wow! good question. I have questioned my faith since I was a little kid because I couldn't "reason" out alot of things. This led to me completely turning my back to God and the bible. That was until my research of the things that made me turn my back, turned me right back around. Thank God for those ministries out there that aren't afraid to teach people the truth. And for other christians out there who were patient with me.
You see. I wish I had what you call blind faith. The reason? Cuz I feel horrible for questioning God and His word. I remember it well. I was sitting there studying the bible and reading about science stuff at the same time when I realized, "Every word is true!"
It is. Believe it. For God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise.
I still am a very questioning person. I think it is healthy for some, but , the truth is, I'd much rather be a fool than be wise.

Good question thedrommer;
Faith is far from blind, believe it or not(no pun intended :)
Hebrews 11:1 says Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.
The reason so many people have so many different views on God and Faith is because the whole God experience really is a personal experience.
Let's look at some facts without faith for a moment;
Every human comes into this world crying(desiring) for Love.
Every human leaves this world desiring to be loved. I challenge anyone to find just one human being who is totally 100% Loved, fulfilled, secure. It's impossible simply because every known source of love is not 100% secure. Everybody and everything dies. Therefore, a species who requires love, yet has an insecure love source, will never be 100% loved.
We spend our whole life on the hunt to fill this void of wanting to be loved 100%.
Here's where God comes in but only when a person is convinced they need God. This really is the deciding factor because to admit I need God is nowhere near easy. It requires humility, submission, and faith. But not blind faith. Just talk to anyone who's ever felt this God, anyone, then the blind part goes out the window.
When I read a map of "faith" to drive cross country where i've never been, it's not blind, it's simply trusted from the past from those who have been there.
The person who does not believe in God has the same amount of faith in their belief as I have. The difference is, they have faith in their self, just as I did prior to meeting God.
To believe there is no God means a human being could imagine a being that is capable of giving immediate joy, peace, happiness on a physcial, mental, and spiritual level. That ability must be...God. This does not mean you are problem free, it simply means you have another supernatural being by your side.
Sorry I got long winded :)

Who replaces reasoning with blind faith? I came to my belief in God through reasoning. Most people are intellectually lazy... real thought take energy and effort. The question implies that people of faith give up their ability to reason and think to accept the tenants of their beliefs. That is not the God I know nor is that the God as defined by the Bible. I get tired of lazy thinking Christians and those who attack them. I revel in the passions of a good debate, however, and am open to the quest. God can take the doubt... I fear many Christians can't.
N.B. The real focus of the query should be 'in what do you put your faith?'. .. the object of one's faith is what determines if faith is even justified. Good question....Blessings

I think we need to reason things out to the best of our ability, but we need to be humble in understanding that we do not know or understand everything yet. While we understand much about science we continue to learn and grow and often the "science" of before looks downright silly later.
We cannot understand how a man could walk on water. We think it violates basic laws to which we see no exception. For centuries people felt the same about flying. But it is not that flight was impossible, only that we did not understand the principles that would allow it to happen. Faith is not blind, it is simply and acceptance and understanding that we don't know everything yet and that what seems impossible to us now may only be limited by our knowledge, not God's power.

I used my God-given capacity to reason that the Bible speaks the truth.

I think many people are afraid of standing alone. There is comfort in numbers. Karl Marx one stated "Religion is the opiate of the people." Its easier to have blind faith than to think for yourself.
Reason sometimes opens us up to the truth and often many people are not ready for it.

I think most people have an innate fear of deep thought, especially when it comes to something intangible that they can't prove out right. Seems like they are always taking the easy road when it comes to the most serious issues. We fail to teach our children to think for themselves and break down that natural wall blocking us from using our reasoning. That's why the world's political history is the way it is.

because most of us confuse belief with faith and the law of God and the law of Man.
there are situations that these two laws contradict each other. thus making you confuse and you rely on your heart,mind,belief,faith,intelligence,emotions etc. to make your decision.
its not a blind faith,it's just faith. belief is believing in something you see,you touch, you feel or anything that can be proven by the senses...Faith is believing in something or someone even your senses failed to sense.

I believe this (im an atheist by the way).
I believe that "IF" there is a god, then the ones that go to heaven are the ones that reason and use logic and common sense throughout their lives. The ones that follow a "BOOK", written by "OTHER PEOPLE" blindly, throwing away what god naturaly gave them to chalange life with, are the ones going to hell. How would you feel if you taught your son how to logic his way through life, and he throws his life away believing that the "giant spaghetti monster" will show him the way?
But that's my oppinion of "THE IDEAL GOD".

Exactly,
I think its more a matter of control.
What I have noticed is that faith based religions dont want to change - in fact they are making themselves irrelevant because society changes all the time. To make themselves more relevent they would have to change also - which requires too much effort.
So I guess it all comes down to - its easier !!
