Maybe you have taphephobia. If you really have an extreme fear, you should see a psychiatrist.

Well, this is actually a VERY common fear. It is as old as the custom for burial. OK, I'll give you good help. Understand, if you are psychotic... there is nothing short of a doctor who can help you. But, I am assuming you are a normal person.

Solutions:
1. Specify in your will that the tests for death should be done every hour for one day. Also, specify that these results should be documented and given to the Coroner or at least to a family member you trust.

2. Specify in your will that a small "breathing" hole should be drilled in your coffin. Instruct that a pipe should be placed into that hole, but not puncturing you. This pipe should lead above ground. Have a bell installed through the pipe so that you can ring the bell from inside the coffin if such a thing happens. Make sure that you stipulate how long the bell remains. 3 days ought to do it.

3. Require in your will that you must have a medical exam post mortem. For more guarentee, demand 3 doctors agree you are dead.

If this doesn't help, I don't know what will.

Fear Of Being Buried Alive

Get creamated!!! You can still have your ashes put into a plot if thats what you want.
You could have already been buried alive in a past life. And I do believe that unless there is extreme damage to internal organs or the body is somehow compromised, the soul can re-enter the body if it's will is strong enough, up to 3 days after death, I think thats the acturate time. it's been recorded, but who would wanna talk about that!!!!

Because your taphephobic. You may also be claustrophobic as well and have a fear of being buried alive and not being able to move in a tight space. You may have also watched Kill Bill 2 when she was buried alive in that movie.

First off, there are many, many, many tests before they bury someone. From doctors, nurses, funeral directors, morticians, someone is going to notice you aren't dead. However, I can understand your fear. My suggestion is that you speak with a counselor about this fear. There must be something about this subject that is causing your anxiety, and you might want to talk about it. It might make you feel better. But no one has been buried alive (by professionals anyway) for a very very long time.

You may want to try E.F.T.: http://www.emofree.com/ , it is based on acupressure and has been proven to rid many people of severe phobias almost immediately. It is called emotional freedom technique and it is performed by allowing yourself to think about your fear and then tapping certain acupressure points on your body. It takes about two minutes to do the whole process, and once the fear is gone it almost never returns. If it doesn't completely disappear after the first round of tapping, you can do the process over again until it's completely gone. The web site allows you to down load the instruction manual for free and you can do the tapping yourself once you've read the booklet. It completely got rid of my fear of open spaces and my friend's fear of ladders. I hope you will be able to find some relief from your fear, no matter what you decide to do.

They do an EEG and an EKG to determine death. Electro-Encephalagram measures brain waves, if you have a flat line, there is no brain activity, and an Electrocardiogram, if you flat line there is no heart activity.

they check for any and all signs of life before they call code. if there is no pulse and no respiration for over 10 minutes you have brain dammage. if it's over 30 minutes you're considered brain dead because no oxygen at brain means it died.
