The crack goes like a Y all the way across and down the front windshield of my car. I do not want to fix it this month because my funds are low. Is this against the law or dangerous? I am trying to be cautious by staying off the freeway.

It is against the law in Michigan, I know, so it could be in other states, also. There are some places that can repair cracks, which would be less than replacing the whole windshield. But try to get it fixed as soon as you can!

You bet it's against the law and in some states even worse then you could guess too.
And yes it's very dangerous driving with a cracked windshield too.
Here's where the fun begins for you.
You have about three options left to you now.
1-- You had better get it fixed this month or -----
2-- You could get one hell-of-a ticket for the cracked windshield and that just might cost more then a new windshield itself or-----
3-- You could hit and kill someone because you can't see that good out of the cracked windshield-----
4-- You could be hit and crippled or worse because you couldn't see good out of the cracked windshield----
You could take the bus so that you wouldn't have to dish out money to replace the cracked windshield, you wouldn't get a ticket, repairing it would be a whole lot cheaper then a ticket would----- You have a better chance of not hitting anyone or anything if you had the windshield replaced right away.
And before I forget, stay off the freeway and all back streets as well as everything else so not to cause an additional problems that would rise up with this matter.
Take the bus until you are legal again to drive.

In Ky it is against the law to have a cracked windshield. Check with your insurance company. Most of them will replace your windshield for free.

yes a cracked windsheild is considered illegal, but most officers o the law will only give you a stipulation that it needs to be fixed and inspected.....you'll have about 1 month to get it inspected,or they'll mail you the ticket.not all cracks require relacement though, there is some kind of repair job that they do,call aaa or ask at a garage,or check the yellow pages,if it needs replacement, call a junkyard, buy a used one and take it to repair shop or ask the junkyard if they do work. you'll save a lot.

Most states have one of two laws, either it is illegal if the crack is within the sweep of your windshield wipers or the second type covers any crack at all. In either case, your crack would fall within the scope and therefore be illegal.
