I think these days people are so insular and individualistically minded that they want to strive for the most money, the nicest house, the best life, etc, and sometimes that means true love isn't such a big focus in their life and they're not willing to put in the effort required to make a good relationship work. Just a thought...

Mainly because if you are looking for it you are venerable to those who are looking for anything but true love. You have to let it find you. What this mean is continue to date or involve yourself in being around others but don;t expect because you are attracted to someone...or they are attracted to you, that it can be "true love". Just always carry yourself with poise and dignity and do not succumb to riff-raff. Be intelligent in your selections and keep your options open. In many cases it is found that that true love person is right there under your nose.

If you spend much time here on Answers, you won't think it is...seems there's tons of people here in love with all kinds of other people..
But, to answer your question, people are individuals...even with as many as there are on this planet, it takes a particular combination of characteristics between two individuals, to mesh well and make a good match...
If love were so easy to find, we wouldn't appreciate it nearly as much when it came into our lives...

because different people have different definitions to what true love is, and/or they beleive that their first boy/girlfriend is their true love when in fact that it is just a game.
