I sent him some web sites that showed many wonderful pits helping and protecting us. He never even look at them. So I'm nowposting them hoping he will now take a look;

Pit Bulls attack more people than any other breed." Bite statistics actually show otherwise. More popular breeds that are generally considered to be "nice dogs" top the majority of lists. It may seem to the general public who is constantly bombarded with disturbing reports on Pit Bull attacks that this is the only breed that harms humans with any great regularity. However, the fact remains that Pit Bulls are hot news items. Dogs of all breeds and mixes bite and attack people all the time, but it is mainly the Pit Bull bites that get sensationalized. A report about the local Golden Retriever that attacks and maims a child isn't considered newsworthy. No one wants to believe that any dogs--even the fuzzy, cute, popular ones--are capable of biting. It's much easier to blow up and sensationalize a story about a vicious dog when it's a member of a breed who's reputation preceeds it. Pit Bulls are already considered the demons. All the reporters have to do is stand in front of the camera, look horrified, and say, "A Pit Bull did it".

BSL is a flawed concept from the moment it is conceived. In most cases the dogs are targeted leaving the owner, which is the responsible, rational thinking party, out of it.

Some impose fines along with their laws but are often not enforced to the maximum so the owner gets away with a slap on the wrist.
Dogs are not the problem and BSL does not reconize this. People are the problem and until we find a way to punish people for their neglectful actions which allow dogs to bite and terrorize the public we will never stop the problem.

First problem is, take one breed away, these people will find another breed to replace it.

Since the APBT bans the Rottweiler is now on the rise as the most popular breed.

Now these dogs are taking heat from the general public and the BSL supporters. Again they are restricting the dogs and not the people.
BSL can be compared to gender profiling or racial profiling. Simply because a dog appears to be a dog on the restricted list it is treated as one.

What if you were driving down the road and the police took you to jail, sentenced you, and placed you on death row just for looking like a certain ethnic group? BSL does exactly that to dogs.

So why is it then that more BSL laws are implemented daily? God forbid a person have to take responsibility for their irresponsible actions and BSL supports these people by not placing very harsh punishments on them.

You don't hear about any other breed of dog frequently killing people, why? Because Pit Bulls are far more dangerous. True, only 1 in 1000 Pit Bulls will make the news, but those odds are too high for me. Wake up to reality before you are the owner on TV saying, "I don't know what happened, its just not like cuddles to mutilate a small child. Must have been something the kid did!"

My neighbors had 2 pits, and they were almost the sweetest dogs I've seen! They never tried to bite and were always happy to see people and play. They got stolen,though. I think pits are given a bad rep. It's just because people(usually druggies) fight and abuse them that they become aggressive. I've even saw some that were fought but became loving family pets. Chihuahuas, Boxers, and other dogs are rare service dogs if there are any, but that doesn't mean they should be banned. Same deal with pits. Give 'em a chance!

Very interesting articles. Thank you for posting them. I agree with you, pit bulls should not be banned. They get a lot of bad press because they can be vicious. But any dog can be vicious if you train them to be. With a loving home and proper socialization, pits can be wonderful companions. My pit Tical is one of the sweetest dogs you could ever want to meet.

You already have some great answers, but here is something else. I am a therapy dog group leader and have a wonderful 95lb. male pit bull terrier in my group. The reason they are such good family dogs is: they are nearly indestructable. If a small child falls or climbs on the dog, it doesn't retaliate because it isn't hurt.

The dog isn't the problem it would be the owner. If anyone takes in any sort of breed they should be well aware of the dog that they are getting. Pits are loyal, loving, low maintance dogs that just want to please their owner. They want to be where ever you are, they are also great family dogs. I also know that if there is a guest in my home that my dog will be nervous, any accident from then on is my fault. My dog trusts that I will not put him in a situation like that. I would even be fine with having to be licensed to own one, in fact that might be the safest way. Then we wouldn't have to worry about irresponsible owners giving us a bad name.

No way! in spite of the indisputable fact that I do imagine human beings should be experienced about a thanks to react in route of canines; because now that Pit's have a stigma to them because of our journalists biases, even in spite of the indisputable fact that many circumstances the perpetrator hasn't been a Pit Bull in any respect that has been at fault for "stated" attacks (and the tale doesn't get retracted or corrected) and that makes human beings fearful even as they see them. I have a rescued Pit and he's a cuddly sweet boy! i have also volunteered at a Humane Society walking canines, and performance entered kennels, leashed up and walked many Pits with out any problem in besides in my view, i have been bitten only by technique of smaller canines, consisting of a chum with little Chihuahua, yet who can take that heavily? They ban one kind of canines and then what's to provide up them from banning many breeds or taking canines possession faraway from each and every individual? with somewhat of success your community receives keen about combating the ban if there's a criminal petition going round. There are yahoo communities that could element a thanks to wrestle those bans. no one needs someone to take their canines away because of it is breed.

why shouldnt pit bulls be banned?. cause its stupid people that thinks because one bits they all bit instead of looking at the irresponabile owner that let the dog become like that . I own one and my boyfriends sister owns 2 and they are the most wonderful loyal dogs i have ever seen. They would rather lick you all over then to think about biting us. but thats only because we are responable owners.

Because it's actually the owners raising the dogs that turn them violent. You'd be pissed off too if you were neglected and abused.
