Small, for sure. You will both be happier animals. Ditto on the more quiet breeds so your dog will not disturb your neighbors.

you don't have to go small. According to my vet Great Danes are supposed to be great apt. dogs bc they are lazy and don't need alot of exercise. Greyhounds are also great apt dogs. Inside they are big couch potatoes, they do need exercise, but not as much as you think and there are so many retired racers that need good homes. Basically it will come down to how much work you are willing to put into it, bc you won't be able to just be lazy and let your dog out in the back yard, You can get a more ative dog as long as you are willing to take the dog for walks or to the park as needed. Good luck

It depends on how often you're at home. I would go for a small dog. I have a chihuahua and Daschund and they need a lot of attention. Daschunds can be aggressive or mellow toward people, depending on how well you show them other people. Chihuahuas tend to guard their owners no matter what and will bite. Yorkies do well with people and pomeranians are almost as bad as Chihuahuas. They are all sweet if you teach them though, except maybe the chihuahua. LOL. If you're not home a lot, you might want to wait to get a dog yet, so you can spend time with them. Daschunds and Yorkies don't bark as much, or maybe get a small mix from a local shelter. They need homes, too!

Below are links to dog breed selectors. You answer some questions about your lifestyle, what size dog you want, and if you want it to shed and it tells you what breed of dog will do the best with you. Try them all because they may give slightly different breeds and ask slightly different questions. Some of them ask what kind of home you live in, choose apartment and it will give you the best dog suitable for your personality.

Go for a small, lapdog breed. Also, I hear bulldogs aren't very active, they should be ok in an apt. as long as they are walked regularly.
