Your answer depends entirely on what type of carpeting you want to install.
Go to a flooring center and compare prices on diffrent types then call a few installers to get some price quotes.
Personaly, I wouldn't put carpeting in a rental anyway. You'd be better off with tile or a decent wood flooring.

74.5 sq. yds.? That's a big apartment. I had a 500sq. ft. condo, with one bedroom and it was only 13 yds. Are you sure about the size of the apartment?
