your are not the world police, nothing gives you the right to invade another, if the usa is such a superpower you could react to an attack straight away from another country.

Thank you for this question!
The USA thinks its security should come before anyone elses. It has acted selfishly in the past too.
Look at what happened when North Korea tested its missles. The US immediately started worrying about its security before any other nation's well being. There are other countries closer to North Korea who could be caught in the crosshairs of a nuclear weapon were to hit the Pacific Ocean. USA did not even stop to think what would be the consequences if the missles had struck Japan, South Korea or the Western coast of Canada.
Coincidentally, Americans become angry if you compare them to the Roman Empire or the President to a fascist dictator. I think the interventions have a lot to do with self interest and the "You do as I say and not as I do" mentality more than anything else. It only intervenes in place where either profit is, resources are, allies are threatened or breaking up Democratically elected governments are concerned. Such is the case in Palestine, by supporting Israel's incursion into the Gaza Strip. There several Palestinian parlimentary members and government officials being held by Israelis.
It is an irony though that the US has not intervened in many African nations who seek Democracy and help from the international community, Darfur and Liberia being a few out of many. It is a shame.

We took the nuclear option in Japan so we didn't have to invade: 200,000 dead vs. millions.
We helped South Korea in 1950 at the request of the UN - Little thing called the Korean conflict. Still actually going on. No peace treaty was ever signed. Simply a cease fire. North Korea has stated publicly that they would have every intention of re-unifying through military action if they can.
Libya had this little bad habit of bombing other countries, planes.
Iranian extremist students took objection with us in 1979 and held our embassy workers hostage for 444 days.
And then there's Saddam. We could debate the value of why we're there and whether or not we were justified all day long. Whether we should have gone there or not, we're at least trying to clean up the situation. The country is likely to be a key turning point in the region if a democratic government can get established. The infrastructure is being rebuilt as fast as we can repair the terrorist damage.
Despite your feelings about our involvement in other countries around the world, as often as not, we're being asked to help out. We're not running around the world trying to just blow stuff up. With the break up of the USSR, we're about the only country around with the resources to help out when there's a need.
If we're such a bad thing, then perhaps we should stop helping out. I'm sure the next despotic leader to gain power would certainly appreciate the lack of interference.

UMMM THE US DIDNT START NUCLEAR WAR WITH JAPAN. JAPAN STARTED WAR WITH US. When they bombed pearl harbor. And we attacked Libya because Kodifi shot down our planes, and Iran is ran by a lunatic dictator and a lunatic extreme fundamentalist called the aylatolla. SOUTH KOREA, we've had troops in south korea for 60 years, if it wasnt for the US the whole island would be North Korea and South Korea would've never became as prosperous as it is. Iraq was a **** up, we shouldve let saddam keep killing innocent shiites and innocent Kurds, and minded our own bussiness, I dont think its worth american lives for those people. To wrap it up we get involved with other countries because we are the world power and we have an obligation to help others in need of help.

Don't equate the actions of current presidential administration with USA. But as I happen to like Japan, I'd rather hate to see North Korea invade their country much like Iraq invaded Kuwait.

The United States isn't doing anything in SOUTH Korea other than helping them maintain their border against their Communist neighbors to the north. As far as the other nations you mentioned: if people would rise up against their own abusive leadership like we did in 1776, then we wouldn't have to keep bailing everyone out. Maybe we should just leave all of you to the wolves!

It's a hubris that's been common since American became an imperialist power in 1898, since Teddy Roosevelt opted to interfere throughout the hemisphere, since we became a "superpower," since we toppled Iran and Guatemala's government in the 50s and since the Cold War.

For one it is North Korea not South Korea. Secondly, because we can. War exists for the sake of maintaining a status quo, it keeps people subordinate and passive to their governments, it keeps production levels up. It is good for the governments, and since they are the ones with power they are the only ones that matter to world events.
It is all natural law. If you're strong you prosper and if you are weak, you die off.

We are the lone world Superpower. In order to remain at the top we must stay involved on the global stage and keep influencing other counties. IF we begin to lose influence, we lose power. And I'm sure no American wants to give up their standard of living for anything less.

Would you also like us to stop interfering by giving foreign aid?
The reason we interfere, is because we must in order to ensure the safety of our country, and the world. We can not allow madmen, and fanatics to weild power that can destroy the earth.
If we would have minded our business in 1941, the world would be run by nazi's.
