The fact that it's a guerilla war that we're fighting, it's gonna be difficult when your fighting an enemy that knows the land better than you and can play hide and seek with you all day long while your losing men. It's not as easy as fighting a conventional war. If it were conventional warfare we'd totally own them, but now we have to adjust the way we fight so that we can keep up with the enemy. Just cause the countries are weak it doesn't mean good tactics and strategies won't win the war. War is not all about having the best weapons. The US is very good at adjusting it's military to fight in different conditions, we weren't the best army in WW2 until we started learning more and training better than we just owned the Germans. So it'll take some time for us to learn more about the tactics used by the enemy and learn how to exploit it. There's nothing we can't handle. Also i would blame the loss at Vietnam on all the Hippies who always demanded us leave Vietnam. We could've kept fighting that war but there was huge support to leave.
And also we beat the Iraqi army horribly in the first gulf war, where were you? We could've beat them all the way back to Baghdad but Bush decided not to because of what could happen if the government fell. So you can't use the first Iraq conflict as an example.

Two words: The Media. With the media involved it also means the public is involved. If you look throughout history the more that media got involved the more the US military(Or any country who abides by the R.O.E) struggled with whatever countries they were warring with. If the media was so involved in past wars I guarantee that those wars would have turned out different. Media claims that it's not one sided, but that's just bull ****. Example: Insurgents cut off some U.S. civilians heads the world shudders, the U.S. mistreats some prisoners and the world has a **** fit. So now the military has to worry about looking good for the media while also trying to do their jobs. War is hell, and it can be brutal people just need to learn that.

Vietnam was supported by China, just like North Korea was in the 1950's. If we were just fighting the Viet Cong, the war would be over in a few months. Iraq is generally peaceful except for a few hot spots. Those causing us problems are local trouble makers and fighters from Iran, Syria, Saudia Arabia, Yemen, and other Islam fascists.

If the U.S. were to fight a conventional war against an opposing nation, it would notch a significant win. But since the U.S. has such a strong military arm the nations it fights today realize they cannot win with such tactics ... much like how the colonies of America realized they could not win the Revolutionary War fighting Britian conventionally.

The result is drawn out conflicts against very hard to identify enemy targets ... many operating independently and blending in well with the native population.

because of the rules on war, we cannot fight a war using the same methods like we did in WWI or WWII because too many of the citiznes of that nation could be killed.

Next unlike the previous war, the enemy does not wear uniforms and actually fight a war, but dress and hide amount the citizens and then they use our press against us.

We end up trying to police, not fight a war.

Level all the major Iraq cities, untill thier public turns over all of the people loyal to the terrorist groups, and you win a war,
If you have to have a law suit anytime someone is killed that may or may not be an emeny you are a joke amount the enemny nations.

Iran and North Korea are actually not something worldwide places. If there is any conflict against them, you will even have the excellent international assisting you. actual everyone interior the international hates Iran different than Hugo Chavez, and no person likes North Korea. South Korea might desire to take out North Korea by employing itself. Russia and the U. S. are not going to pass to conflict with one yet another, ever. as long as there are nuclear weapons, no 2 international powers will ever pass to conflict with one yet another. additionally, as of overdue Russia and the U. S. have been working jointly as they the two have an elementary enemy: Islamic Fundamentalism. China does not want to combat all people. It has an exceedingly independent, very non-interventionist distant places coverage. they only care approximately financial develop and could on no account do something to jeopardize it. conflict is undesirable employer for China. The Islamic international isn't united, and Islamic countries are consistently combating among themselves. If by employing some strange hazard they unite and insist a international jihad, the excellent international might purely positioned them down.

Besides, who will fight other countries capable of discharging nuclear missle like China, North Korea, Israel, Great Britain, Iran, Pakistan and India, to mention a few? Apart from arms sales, they have interest in oil in Iraq and the rest of the Caspian and Middle East Region. It vietnam, CIA is bringing into the America, tons of high quality drugs inside the cadavers of soldiers killed in action, which was exempted from customs check.

We did NOT have trouble in Gulf War 1 by the way.

The only way to completely eliminate the insurgent forces that hide amongst the population is to carpet bomb the land and get rid of everybody in the process. Not very nice.

Because of the liberal pansies we have leading this nation. And that include the republicans. We won't fight a war because we are to worried about killing..... the enemy, and then someone might get mad at us. We need to kill the enemy and some of their people. That is war. We need to make it so bad, they quit. That's how you win and always have won a war. Rules of war? They are liberal Hogwash, and only hinder us from winning. Rules that only we follow, harm us.

Because people who perceive themselves to be defending their nation from foreign aggression fight VERY hard. Whether or not it is so, that is how the people in these 2 specific countries perceived it.
