I have 2 turtles,, i feed them apples crickets, and earthworms that i purchase at walmart. i tried meal worms a lengthy time period in the past when I had some lizards and some how i neglected a number of them becuse if the puppy dosnt eat them lower than i imagine its 3 minutes. even as the meal worms get into the soil or inspite of the bedding is they are going to type those black insects which will then kill ur puppy. Ive had it happnd befor and believe me to a 9 year old little female as i become when I observed it. It wasnt pritty and from this factor on i visit not in any respect purchase them back. So if u want to be in simple terms secure purchase crickets. I havent tried the different style of worms sence then yet u can attempt those that are already useless see in the adventure that they are going to eat those!!!

Ok Ok you can order tubifex worms online a good place is www.aqualandpetsplus.com, Dr's foster and Smith, and reptile speciality stores have them as well as some pet stores.
Most petstores that sell reptiles have mealworms or you can order them online from the same places.
More power to you rescuing animals

You can get the worms at a local pet store. If you want to keep them for long term (ie: raise them) then you need a container like a rubbermaide tub that you can poke holes in the top. Keep it in a cool dry place and filled with wheat bran. At the pet store, they sell "gut load" that you can also mix into the bran to make the worms more nutrient rich which will really help out the birds. Some people put veggie leftovers from making dinner on top of the bran to load the worms like lettuce, shavings from carrots, potato skins, etc., but they mold very quickly and makes your worm home a nasty environment. I prefer to buy my gutload material from the pet store.

Tubifex worms are fed to tropical fish, I have been told that wild animals- birds specifically can thrive on name brand canned cat food. I have successfully raised several Blue Jays with it and one house wren too. make up small wads of the food about the size of a fat Green Pea... and wave your hand over the birds head from the rear so it imitates its mama flying into the nest, it should open its mouth wide to be fed, plop the food directly into the middle of its throat and its swallowing reflex will automatically make it swallow the food.
I have raised several wild birds using this method, sometime they need you to wet your little finger (have a bowl or cup of very warm water before you attempt to try this- just in case it needs help getting the food down- and gently place the tip onthe food so it hits the reflex, but you need to exercise caution here...
Until it learns the new feeding method it could choke becasue it is too eager or too afraid to eat, seeing humans frightens little ones badly and their distraction at seeing you could be disasterous for a little baby that is not used to hands and not mom & dad. Go slow.. be very careful

First I would like to say that only a caring and loving animal person would help abandoned animals and there should be more people like that. You can get what you are looking for at almost any pet store.

Do they have to be alive? I brief search showed freezed dried or frozen worms being carried at Petsmart. They are located in the aquarium section. Also try Doctor Foster Smith's website: http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Product/NavResults.cfm?N=0&Np=1&Ntt=meal%20worms&Ntx=mode+matchallpartial&Ntk=All&Nty=1&pc=1
Good luck with you babies.

wait, are you trying to feed something mealworms or are you trying to "raise" mealworms? i'm confused. if you're trying to raise them that's the dumbest thing i've ever heard.
