Under current technology most kinds of energy shielding cannot be made. Magnetic shielding is possible, but magnetic shielding isn't that strong. The Earth has a magnetic shield that protects us from solar storms, but it takes an entire planet to generate a powerful one. We can get a magnetic field to run from north to south, but it is an attractive force. We definitely cannot get a force to form a wall. Electricity has to run through a wire. We can generate lightning sparks, but that takes a huge amount of power and only lasts for a few tenths of a second. Sheet Lightning could form a shield, but it takes an entire planet to power it (we can’t create it), and again, it only lasts for a very short time.

Work has been done on creating a Fusion Reactor. Fusion Power will be a lot cleaner source of power than Nuclear Power, and it only takes water to run it. The idea was to create a circular magnetic field and spin hydrogen plasma around in it. Plasma is hotter than a gas, and what makes up most of the sun. So if the magnetic field fluctuates for just an instant then the plasma will escape and destroy the container. So far we haven’t been able to make a magnetic field strong enough to work for more than a few seconds. Plasma is a light as gas, especially hydrogen (the lightest element), so if we cannot contain it then we cannot generate a magnetic field strong enough to stop a tossed nail. We can attract the nail to our magnetic generator, but we cannot block it or hold it off from the generator. If we had two opposing magnetic fields we can support a lot, but that isn’t a shield, and it is easy to put off balance. Also it would only work on metal objects that can hold a magnetic field. So if our magnetic shield was strong, and somehow repulsive, it still couldn’t stop a spit wad. It is hard to make a shield out of an attractive force. The ideal shield will require a repulsive force, or a blocking force; like the shields on the Enterprise or on a Star Fighter.

We could try and create a static force on our shielded object that we could use to repel an object with a similar static charge. Using a laser we can ionize another object to produce that charge (if we had enough power to do it). The static charge would ground itself out as soon as possible though, and it would be an easy to disrupt the balance, say with another laser, or just a huge capacitor to absorb the charge. Also a static charge force would be like a magnet it would be an attractive force. Anything with an opposite charge would be sucked right into our shield. A shield made of a static charge wouldn’t work.

In the final analysis all the forces we know of in the universe are electromagnetic (and gravity). Flowing electricity generates a magnetic force and moving magnets can create an electric field (that’s how motors and generators work). This is all according to Einstein’s Unified Field Theory. These forces are attractive and we could not make a suitable energy shield out of them.

The one force we do not know about is gravity. We don’t know what particle creates it (as a photon creates light, or an electron creates electricity), and we don’t even know how to generate it. Eventually we will understand gravity; it is only a matter of time. However, gravity is purely an attractive force like the magnet. We can pull objects into our shield generator but we cannot repel them. If we could discover anti-gravity then we would have a repulsive force, one that will let us push and object away. However that might not be possible. According to the Unified Field Theory Gravity and the electromagnetic force are two different expressions of the same force. We don’t have anti-electricity, and we don’t have anti-magnets. Yes, they do have poles and energy flows from one to the other, but we don’t have a way to really repel with them, at least not a stable way. If we set up ideal conditions with north facing north or electron facing electron we can repel, but the condition is in a delicate balance and easy to disrupt. It seems that the energy shield is just a pipe dream like cold fusion. Even if we do figure out gravity it will probably only give us an attractive force just like electromagnetism, so an energy shield just won’t work.

Our only hope is if Einstein was wrong, and the master has been right on everything so far. We need a more fundamental understanding of the universe. We are missing some big things. Things like most of the universe: which we call dark matter, because we can’t see it. We know that there has to be at least 11 dimensions (Cosmic String Theory calls for 26). We cannot understand these higher dimensions, nor detect them. We also haven’t been able to make Quantum Mechanics and Physics to agree. Physics describes the fundamental laws of everything: motion, air pressure, heat flow etc. Quantum Mechanics describes how things work at the subatomic level. We have tested both theories and found that they work and cover everything in their field. The theories are correct, but they don’t agree with each other. Some things happen in the subatomic world that are impossible according to normal physics, but the conform nicely with quantum mechanics.

If we can understand other dimensions, just what dark matter really is, or why physics on the macro and micro levels don’t agree then maybe, just maybe that will give us something the generates a repulsive force so we can make an energy shield. Remember George Lucas refers to the Star Wars series as a fantasy. There are some things, like force shields that are just magic. Of course the famous author Arthur C. Clarke made Clarke’s law: “Any sufficiently advanced technology will appear to be magic to someone of a lower technology.” A caveman could not understand television. A medieval man would still think that it is spirits, or some sort of magic. For now, to us at least, the energy shield is only magic.

Try to use a magnetic field. Run a electric coil around your body and run a current through it. It will generate a magnetic field.

Anything is possible. Unfortunately not now with current technology. Ask again 20 years from now

No, but some kind of magnetic shield is...

A gravity shield (repulsion would be possible too)

Not yet. Though startrek and starwars isn't real, a lot of ideas come from dreams such as these.

i don't believe it is possable as energy isn't solitfied in order to shield or rebound it to another source.

Yes, it is possible. Though our modern science can't touch and define it yet?
