A mission trip where you perform work for people spreads the love of God through your labor. The people you help will see the example of Christ in you. Working hard at something real will help you understand that attending church is only one component of Christian faith. Outreach and evangelism are also important. A trip like this can also make you very grateful for all you have. Mission trips are all about spiritual growth, a process that never ends.

Depending on the nature of the mission trip you can achieve several different benefits. Remember that it is the Holy Spirit that you received upon your salvation enables you to grow spiritually as he reveals more and more to you through the scriptures as well as real life experiences. On Mission trips you meet many diverse peoples and you have the ability to effect them as they can effect you as you observe their faith and experiences. By performing volunteer work you also exercise your willingness to give of yourself and exercise your faith through sacrifice of your time and talents. As a Christian, also, God blesses you a times that you may not be expecting it. Offers to go on a mission trip gives God just one more opportunity to reveal to you new lessons and enrich your Christian life. Can I say for sure that you will benefit or realize those benefits upon completion of the trip? No I can't but I do have faith that over time you will find some benefits from giving of yourself to others.

I think that it will benefit more than your spiritually because you will grow more as a person. You will help others and forget about yourself, you will feel usefull and as you change those people's life maybe with a word or with money, etc you will see how bless you are and you'll change your whole attitude not only towards life but towards many things that before you didn't think much of. Believe me it happened to me.

i love the ignorant and closed minded aka christian fundamentalists that claim to be spiritual but have no clue what it means.

A christian man goes to church, and sits
impatiently and day dreaming of fishing. A spiritual
man goes fishing, and day dreams of God. christianity runs
on guilt, fear, sin and is mind driven. Spiritualism
runs on truth, peace, and joy, and is Heart driven.
Spiritualism is a life style christianity is a learned
from a book and folk lore you're born spiritual!!!!

It will help you fulfill your part in the Great Commission (Matt.28:18-20)
It will help you fulfill the Great Commandment Mk. 12:31

It will help you because on these trips you will find yourself in a position where you have to totally rely on God.

According to Rick Warren's "The Purpose Driven Life", our purpose is to serve God by serving others. This is what fulfills us as human beings.

You will find out the answer to your question at a personal level after you do it.

Besides storing up "treasures in Heaven" ?...you'll appreciate more how you yourself have been blessed...

It could prove to be a "desert experience" as well, which is what God takes people through before He takes them to greater levels!

Hopefully some natives will treat you with the respect you deserve and roast you on a spit, which means you can go straight to the make-believe Heaven and meet your make-believe god.

Hopefully you will experience God through this ministry and help others do the same. Allow yourself to be open to whatever God has for you and the possibilities will be endless.
