U said it yourself - if u dont go u could be passing an opportunity of a LIFETIME!! And it'll make u happy. Speak to your current employer about time off,he might just understand. Also talk to the propective employer and tell him u might not b able to get time off,and suggest a solution. If all else fails, just go to the interview.

Seriously, take the time off of your current one. Think about it - if you don't go, you'll never know if you would have gotten the position. Also, don't make the place that wants to interview you move heaven & earth just to interview you. You want to seem as flexible to their schedule as possible. If they say Monday at 9am - be there 5 minutes early. Call your current job, tell them you have car trouble and will be in asap. I was in a similar situation, but i went and guess what - I got the job.
good luck...

Tell the interviewing employer you don't like to call in sick for this kind of thing and that is the only time off you have. Can they arrange for another time? They will appreciate your honesty and if you don't get the job - you won't have called in sick (and lied) for no reason.
BTW: your whole life does not depend on any one's answer except your own....

Take a personal day off, because personal days are just for that.. something personal.. Don't let your present employer know what you're up to because some places will fire you on the spot when/if they find out that you're looking elsewhere. I don't advise to call in sick because if you happen to be at at red light all dressed up for your interview and your present boss is at the same intersection... there might be some explaining to do.. ;) Best wishes to you

I would tell the prospective employer that you are very interested in becoming a part of his/her team but that you also want to respect the committment that you currently have with your employer. (You also don't want to burn any bridges.) Would they consider a breakfast/lunch/dinner meeting (if they're close) or a telephone interview. I once interviewed across five states via e-mail, telephone and fax. Not once did I meet face to face with my new employer or see the office prior to my first day. Calling in sick to interview could bite you in the rear ;-)

I've always allowed time to interview a good prospect for a position whenever it's convenient for them, even if it's at 6am or 6pm. Just ask, if they are truly interested they will make adjustments to their schedule to fit you in. You may also think about asking for an extended lunch break at your current position and fit it in there. Good luck!

Let me make this simple for you. How important is this interview, to you? Your answer will help determine if it's important enough to make time for it!
