Is it true that the Appalachian trail was recently extended from Maine into Canada?

Yes there is an International Appalachian Trail. It extends from the northern terminus of the Appalachian trail to Cape Gaspe, Quebec. It became most famous as part of the Sea to Sea trail accross the North American Continent. My wife and I had the pleasure of hearing Andy speak this winter. His trip was truely remarkable.
