If you cannot find another vet that will help him on credit, when he does come home, there are a few things that might help. First, do not feed him dog food for a few weeks. Feed plain white rice with either shredded chicken or hamburger meat with the fat drained off. Whatever you do, NOTHING WITH LIVER. It's too rich for him right now. Give him only a small amount at a time (a cup for a bigger dog, a 1/4 cup for a smaller one) and offer it every few hours. If he still has runs or is vomiting, put some pedialyte in his water, a 1:2 ratio (1 part pedialyte, 2 parts water). Keep him quiet, and don't try to make him go out every time he gets sick. Be ready to clean up alot. Clean up very well, disinfect anywhere he has been sick thoroughly.

Good luck, and even after he comes home, keep trying other vets. They really need the antibiotics to get better, if he had a very bad case, no amount of good food & TLC at home can help. If you cannot borrow the $$, like I said, if you keep trying, you may find a good hearted vet, keep trying and asking around.

Parvo is horrible and almost always fatal. Even with the most expensive treatments, you pup may die.

You may want to try calling all of the vets in your area to see if anyone will take your case for free. This is unlikely but, worth a shot.

If you can't afford to continue your pup's treatment and can't find another vet to take your case, it would be best to put your pup down. I know this sounds harse but, it is probably for the best. And please don't feel like a failure, just learn from this experience.

Please don't bring another pup into your home or yard. Parvo is a virus that can live outside the sick animal for quite some time.
You will have to clean everything and anything you can in your home with bleach and water. This includes your clothing and shoes. Pour straight bleach onto any areas of your yard that this pup have been in, the grass will grow back.

I am so sorry to hear of your situation. But never get a pup from less than responsible people. This pup should have been vaccinated BEFORE it came to you. Sad to think that a $5.00 vaccine could have prevented all of this. And the next pup you get, take it to the vet the same day. It can save a lot of heart ache.

As the vet if they can give SubQ fluids once a day at the clinic and then you take him home after each treatment. Will still cost money but not as much....of course, this lowers the chance of survival too. If you keep him at home, DO NOT FEED him ANYTHING until he stops vomiting for 24 hours. He will not starve. Most parvo dogs die from dehydration and even if you give liquids, everytime that he vomits, he loses even more than you gave. Good Luck. Next time, get the vaccines.

My son's Doberman puppy got Parvo a week after he got him. He was 10 weeks old. The vet gave him hydration under the skin and gave us some pills to stop the vomiting. She also said Gatorade or Pedialite. He seemed really sick and weak the next day and wouldn't eat or drink. He looked like he had lost half his weight due to dehydration. My son purchased a large syringe and forced him to drink the Pedialite. Within 20 minutes he was bouncing around and feeling great and ate some lamb treats. By the next day he was back to normal. I hope your puppy gets better.

Some vet hospitals deal with credit companies that will lend you the money for the treatment. This is something to look into. As for home remedies, unlikely anything will work with such an aggressive virus. Perhaps type "parvo" and "homeopathic remedies" in your search engine to see what comes up.
I'm truly sorry for this situation.

Oh sweetie Im so sorry! I don't know of any home remedies. Parvo is nearly fatal, and positively fatal if not treated by a vet. You are lucky you caught it early, but parvo treatment is very expensive. You have a decision to make, give him to someone who can afford his treatment or put him to sleep to end his suffering.

I'm REALLY sorry to say this but A LOT of parvo cases end up in death. My 5 month old Shih Zu Sassy got it and even the vet tried for a week to fix her but she died in the vets office on Christmas day.. I was so upset :(

Sorry that your puppy is so sick. Shots are very important to prevent diseases like parvo. It is so much cheaper to prevent the disease than to treat it. If you cannot give the proper treatment for the pup, it will die.

I would have him put to sleep. It is like us having stage 4 cancer. Which is why you should have gotten it a parvo shot. Parvo is not treatable and usually once you know that they have it, then you cant get rid of it. His chances are about 10/80%. Please put him out of his suffering.
