Do you think anyone who wants to become a U.S citizen should serve in the military?
I think it should be mandatory. serve the country for, lets say, 5 years. as part of becoming a us citizen.

It would be a part of the immigration process. You fill out your paper work. wait your time. etc...
but at the end you have to serve the country. and 80 year old granmothers can work as secretaries, etc...
why an 80 year old grandmother would come to the US is beyond me?

All of you so far don't know what sh!t is coming out of your mouths..... Here let me enlighten and yes i know.. I have served two terms (yearlong-2) in Afghanistan and 2 in Iraq and guess what? I'm on my 3rd In iraq.. The U.S. provides Residency after a certain amount of years of living in the U.S. Therefore residents can and do join the military but they have to serve a complete term of 4-6 years before they may apply for citizenship. If they don't apply for a citizenship they are discharged from the military and thus becoming alot easier for the immigration to track down and report.... The ones who are serving over seas in a combat zone are granted the chance for citizenship if ofcourse they return alive.Yes I do know because i have helped many of my soldiers (Resident soldiers) with attendance for the workshops and giving them enough time and information to specify their options. This I know is very sad because there are so many "Citizens" who have nothing to do but ***** about something they know nothing about. All everyone says is "blame the Mexicans" but reality we have immigrants from Russia,Vietnam,Cambodia, and many other countries who are joining the militayr in order to provide for their families and to become a citizen. I really don't care how patriotic some you "Mongoloids" think you are, the sad truth is that you do nothing for your country but complain. Oh "FR_CHUCK", I don't care if you're a religious man, your answer is ignorant and unsufisticated. You're obviously too Dumb to see what the war is about, No matter how many people we bring here we will never win this war and YES! I'm here and i know that! It's about greed and power. All the war happy Americans were too damn scared to go and re-enlist before because the age requirements prevented them from doing so, but not that it has been extended they claim some other excuses like" i have family" Yeah we all have family but Some just make the sacrifice to better them selves and serve their country. SO!! to all who are for sending illegals to war you should be ashamed of yourselves because someone that you look down on is doing your job, so next time you feel anger because an illegal is washing your dishes or parking your car, hell maybe even taking the job you had longed for, think of it as one more thing you were to lazy to do or just didnt want to get your hands dirty with, just like war....You claim to be so strong but when opportunity arrives you hide behind the illegals.

I am in Mexico, and a few months ago, not far from here, the US military brought home a Mexican who died in the US army in Iraq. The family requested that he be given a US military escort and a military burial. So, US soldiers showed up in uniform, aided in the burial, and presented the US flag to his young widow.
I was shocked to learn, according to Mexican journalists, that the US army will acccept enlistments from Mexicans, who approach the US embassy in Mexico City, and volunteer. Yes, if they survive their enlistment, they earn fast track to citizenship.
We have become a bunch of cowards like the French who have used foreigners to do their fighting for many decades, The French Foreign Legion, and now we have it, too.
I think it's a great idea to make foreigners do military service before becoming citizens, as long as all US native born also have the same military requirements before earning rights of citizenship, such as owning property, voting, buying cars, etc. You guys talk big, but you are a bunch of cowards who want foreigners to defend the freedoms you abuse.

No ... that being said, I'd like to note that not all individuals in the U.S. military are U.S. citizens. I don't know the exact requirements, but I knew some who were Permanent Resident Aliens when I was in boot camp.

You'd have to define who everyone is, an 84 year old grandmother? a young child? Mentally ill?
Actually they can apply for citizenship on the first day of active duty. That is what you should be looking at.

Why are war-happy americans always trying to get others to fight their battles for them? The only people fighting wars should be people that strongly believe in the war's objectives. Do you believe in the occupation of Iraq? Go and fight yourself! Perhaps you have already done that, but there are plenty of people who are talking about ways to fuel the american war machine without having to send over young conservatives.

Bad idea. One of the things those in the US military do is swear an oath to uphold the US Constitution and protect it from ALL enemies both foreign and domestic. Why should we have someone who is not an American or is not legally here be willing to do that?

"might want to immigrants who serve interior the U. S. protection force in Iraq or Afghanistan be allowed to grow to be US electorate speedier? " -- legal electorate who serve interior the militia are afforded a speedier music to citizenship. that is already being finished.

No bad idea, the ones that are here do not want to be American, they could care less, they just want money to send home. They love their oppressive government that gives them no opportunity.
