Yes it is ever too late if you are a hundred and fifty and still socking it away night after night, if not then stop and regain your self respect along with your brain.

If you have noticed that you are loosing your mind then you have not. When the mind starts to go you don't notice it because you would not care. You will notice Alzheimer's and be confused and realize something is wrong but from drinking and partying I don't think you would notice. You will think you are smarter if anything.
When you are young, you make snap decisions and this is not because you are smarter it is because you don't know any better. The older you get the longer it takes for you to make up your mind because you are thinking about what if. What if I do it this way. Or maybe you know you can think of a better way.
I am more confused now then I ever was in life but it is not because that I drink. It is because I have more on my mind. It is no longer just thinking if I am going to skip 3 hour and who will I party with to night. And the roughest part of where will I get the money to party on.
I could go on and on about how things load up on you but I'll spare you on that. It is that you are getting older and trying to make life work is why you feel you are getting dumber. You are now understanding how things work and what happens if you make the wrong decision.

Should I wait and answer this when I'm sober?
NAH.... Yes, I feel like drinking may have a part in my diminished brain capacity. So could age, and general health. I have no idea.
But, if you think drinking could be having an effect on your life in an adverse way, I'd say to stop and re-evaluate what is going on in your life. Can you get those brain cells back? No idea... but all I know is that if your lifestyle is making you stupid, it won't get any better unless you make a change.

It is never too late for anything. I drink everyday, sometimes all day... I don't feel that it has affected my brain capacity at all. One must constantly be actively learning and creating, as a means of transposing ideas. Try doing research on any given subject just to allow more ideas into your mind. Best wishes

As long as the damage is not too severe ( and it sounds like you're pretty well rooted in reality), you should be able to recover. Remember, we only use about 5-7% of our brain capacity. Exercizing your brain through study and other stimulation will help increase your brains ability to function.

I drank pretty heavily for about 48 years, so I suppose my brain has been adversely affected.
But no - it's NEVER too late.I've been booze-free for almost 5 years now. My health is great - I exercise and eat right.
