Because to say it outright would not look very good for them. I can not remember the passage but their own bible is actually against it as well.
I believe it is due to fear. Fear of the unknown, fear of what they do not understand.
It does not fit into the way they live or are told they should live...so it must be wrong.
Just my humble opinion...

Christians, while some may hate gays, it is not a practice endorsed by Christianity, and goes directly against Scripture, so those that do sugarcoat it, well, God knows.
That said, homosexuality, as described in Scripture, is very clearly a sin. God hates sin. "Hate" may be even an understatement of how God feels about sin. God really really hates sin. Sin separates us from God, because when a person sins, they are saying that their way is better than God's way, and thus are saying that they are, in a sense, better than God, or know something that God doesn't know. Suddenly something even small such as a "white lie" is a monumentous and disastrous offense.
God hates sin, and so Christians are to hate sin because they love God. This can sometimes be confused with hating sinners. Every Christian knows that they themselves are a sinner. I am a Christian, and the more I learn about God's will, the more I realize just how wicked and evil a creature I am when I observe myself to the very core. I hate my sin, and despise myself because of it. However, God, in spite of my sin, loves me. God loves sinners. He doesn't love their sin, he hates their sin, but he loves them. He loved us before the world was created. Christians, if we are to make an attempt to be Christlike, love sinners as well. It isn't important whether the sin is homosexuality or petty theft, or an occassional "white lie". As we've seen, those white lies have terrible undercurrents behind them. The problem is sin, and it must be addressed. Christians as a whole are often misunderstood as hating sinners, when what they are trying to do is rescue sinners from their sin. Christians see the distruction and cataclysmic consequences for sin, and in the love they have through Christ loving them, wish for sinners to repent of their sins and be rescued from hell.
Are gays evil? Yes, along with the rest of us. Our only hope is in Jesus Christ, a savior that loves sinners, and wishes to save them from their sins.

I am a Christian, but I don't hate gay people. Hate the sin, not the sinner. Gay people are not necessarily evil, and homosexuality is a sin like any other. Judging people is a sin too, so how does that make you any different? Anyone can change their ways.

I am a christian and i do not hate you. But if I tell you gay behavior is a sin, it is not because I hate you, but because that is what the bible says. And I would not bother to tell you unless i was concerned for your eternal destiny. It profits me nothing to tell someone I do not even know, something that would offend them. But if I can, at least, present the information to you, then you have a choice and can think about it. Salvation cannot be forced on a person against his will. You have to be ready. I am not lying when I tell you what is in the bible. Someday you will be ready, and you will understand better..

I'm Christian and while I love all people, I also don't affiliate with unrepentant people, for this reason I tend to sway from homosexuals. I also don't like to stick around adulterers specifically people who get divorced and remarried like it's okay by God.
Everyone chooses to commit the sins in their lives. Everyone is tempted by different things, temptation is not an excuse for sin but homosexuals often use it as one saying "I like people of my gender, so there's nothing I can do about it". The first and second clauses are unrelated, by that logic if I own a gun to it's inevitable I'll kill someone.

Love the sinner, hate the sin...
To hate anyone or anything is un-Christian and goes against our faith, with that said, the bible is very clear as to God's stance on homosexual activity.
I'm sorry you feel that we hate homosexuals, we don't, we obey our Lord and God and He has stated that homosexual acts are detestable and/or abominable (depending on the translation).
We are commanded to love all people - including homosexuals - however, that does not mean we condone their actions.
Look at it this way - say you have a child, you love this child very much, you waited so long to have that child hold it in your arms, and adore this child with the curly hair, dimples and giggle. Then one day that adorable child turns into a teenager, and doesn't listen to you anymore. One Friday night your child goes out with friends, they steal a car! You find out....
Do you love your child less? No. Do you condone your child's actions? No.
How a person behaves should not affect our ability to love them.
God bless you!

We are NOT to hate the sinner. Only the sin! Sexual sins of any kind are no worse in God's eyes then lying. Sin is sin! All sin will get us into Hell.
We are to show love to the lost and point them to the love and forgiveness of God through Christ Jesus. Not using Hate and Fear as tools but love and forgiveness. All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.

Yes there are all types of sin, some worse than others.some called simply (sin) some called an( unforgivable sin.)and some called an (abomination )to the almighty God.It is not a hatred it is a conflict of interest. and perversion is the reason why whole city's and countries were destroyed in the past.(cataclysmic destruction)like Sodom and Gomorrah,Egypt,Ballel, ect.

This is the third question from you that I've answered tonight. (6 points for me ha ha!)
I don't hide my hatred. I don't have any hatred. I dislike the sin they commit, just like I dislike my own sins. We are ALL evil. Some of us just accept God's forgiveness and salvation from our sins, and others (gay people) choose to live in their sin. I don't hate them, I hate what they do. I have had gay friends, and I love them dearly. But I do see them as sinners, just like myself. I don't like some of the things they do like flaunt it in parades and stuff.....do we go around the country bragging about how much money we've stolen, how many people we've murdered, how many rapes we've committed?? No, but homosexuality is the accepted sin. At least have the decency to hide your sins like the rest of us do!
But no I don't hate them. I love them and pray they find salvation. And to be honest some of the nicest people I've known were gay.
God hates the sin but loves the sinner.........as I've said before.

Christians don't hate gays. It's their actions that are hated.
Because Christians believes that homosexuality is a sin, it is hated just like any other sin.
