Just as there are many aspects to one thing, chakras are not so much things but focus points, bright spots. in a fully developed being the root, heart, and crown chakra will blaze brightest, so one might say there are only 3. on the other hand, there are 7 main energy foci along the spinal column, but if you go to the hands, shoulders, etc. there are many more. The quabbalistic tree of life is a good description of some of the others (as above so below) and acupuncture is based on even smaller subchakras. Anyone who claims to have 13 chakras along their spinal column is either talking about midpoints, or ain't from around these here parts. Then again, since you've got the wings and you're not fae, you're not either.

From someone who has worked with the chakra system extensively for decades, I can tell you from experience that the traditional seven chakra system is accurate, with also minor chakras in the palms.
There may also be minor chakras in the feet but I have not experienced them to be of any consequence, probably because the weakest point of the aura is in that area.
But with the palms...
If one just sits with the back straight and place one's hands palms-up on the lap for a moment or two, the tingling in the hands is a clear indication of the minor chakras in the palms and of the energy coming into it. Try it.
The other chakras that are purportedly above the body are, in my estimation, illusory. When people claim to have these chakras and feel their energy, that is because of the influence and energy of the Group Entity they are channeling.
There is a common idea found within many metaphysical schools of thought. Namely, that the 5th, 6th, and 7th chakras are the most important for spiritual growth. This is also erroneous.
Our 4th chakra or Heart Chakra is more important than any other for spiritual development.
Why?
Because when you feel LOVE and COMPASSION for another, you feel it in your Heart Chakra. The ability to love genuinely and deeply - corresponding to the ability to Radiate Spirtual White Light - is what determines a soul's spiritual evolution - not how receptive one is psychically. There have been and are many evil people who are quite open psychically.
Be sure to check out the innovative and unparalleled approach of Heart Chakra Radiance (HCR). Many years ago HCR was discovered in the Higher Realms of Spirit - where the discarnate Saints above the angel collectives (Group Entities in the Mid Realms) dwell. It is essentially the approach that The Original Creator - who orchestrated The Big Bang - used in order to evolve into rarefied God Consciousness.
For stable Saints, using HCR daily is the path to becoming a true God Realized Master; to be actualized after one leaves the flesh and ascends beyond the Higher Realms and into the Monad Realms of Light.
Many have found experientially that HCR is by far the most effective tool for increasing the ability to love genuinely and deeply.
I've been studying techniques for spiritual growth for decades and have yet to find anything more advanced than Heart Chakra Radiance.

There are different ways of looking at chakras; different systems used by different schools of thought. The most well-known has seven, but there are other systems.
There are 7 *major* chakras recognized by most Eastern philosophies, but some types work with minor chakras at well. (The word translates to something like "wheel" and means something like "power node;" they're all over the body.)
http://www.artesmagicae.com/81.htm describes a 9-chakra system.
http://www.kheper.net/topics/chakras/secondary.html has secondary chakras; it looks like it gives 14 locations.
http://home.xtra.co.nz/hosts/Wingmakers/The%20Twelve%20Major%20Chakras.html talks about 18 chakras, 12 of which it claims are "major."

There is supposed to be another chakra, an eighth. It is supposed to be located right above the seventh, about 4 inches above the top of the head.
