The best thing to do is support her decision no matter what it is. If she chooses to drop out then let her, but remind her that if she has any loans with a grace period and she decides not to go back tell her she still has to repay those loans and if she does decide to restart that her grace period will most likely be gone because she took the time off of school. At the end of the day it has to be her decision, but remind her that people with degrees make quite a bit more money and when it comes to jobs it looks really good on a resume then just putting that I got lazy and didn't want to do it anymore. Any way just tell her to grow up and if she really wants to see what the real world has to offer tell her to go for, but let her know not to come crying back to you when it gives her a good beating.

Let her go sweetie. Best thing I ever did was quit college...the first time. I got all kinds of perspective on "the real world" and hurried my butt back to college. Maybe your friend needs to see what it's like without a college degree for a while? Remember, college isn't only available for those under 25...

What makes you say that it is a bad idea!? It's her decision ultimately, and she will not do the best that she can if she is tired or not happy right now. Her grades will count if she is ever planning to go on to get a higher degree.

I took a semester off from school and got a job, then went back. I am only two classes away from a associates degree.

If you want to lose a friend then go a head and convince her that she is making a mistake. If you want to be a friend, give her suggestions when she asks, but let her live her own life. Telling someone that they are wrong is a sure fire way to make them not want to talk to you anymore.

I feel there is nothing wrong in dropping out if she is determined to try next time.
