Concerning the prisioners at Gitmo who committed suicide vs suicide bombers. Why is it acceptable for a bomber to commit suicide but not for the prisioners? What is the difference? Isn't Suicide suicide regardless of how it is accomplished? Religiously the prisioners could not have committed the act (So it is said) as it is against the teachings of the Koran, yet it is acceptable for suicide bombers to commit the act and kill innocent people in the process. What am I missing?

They believe that they are making martyrs of themselves when they are suicide bombers, because they have been taught that the people they are killing are making war on their religion. Therefore they are performing jihad. While the prisoners are performing suicide rather than deal with life, which they see as wrong. I wonder why they can't figure out it is all wrong?
I am a muslim, just not scum like those. They remind me of that guy David Koresh, from the whole Waco Mt. Caramel thing! They called themselves christian, yet did everything against christ's teachings! Muslim extremists are the same!

What a thought provoking question. While I won't pretend to be wise enough to answer it, I do think that suicide for any reason is wrong. It falls into the same category as murder. No one should kill anyone or themselves for any reason. I guess if I had to decide which way would be better, I'd choose the guys that kill themselves in prison. The suicide bombers have made the choice to kill themselves and to kill innocent bystanders...that makes them murderers not suiciders. Keep asking these great questions.

God looks down on suicide, it is true. It is not acceptable for a bomber to commit suicide, they don't understand that though. They have been poisoned to believe that by committing suicide, they will become a martyr for their faith. It is not for our choosing on how we should die. As a Christian, I can think of no greater honor than to die as a martyr. However, that doesn't mean I'm going to hop on the first plane to Iran and walk into the street screaming that I'm a Christian so that they come and kill me. Dying for my faith is not necessarily what God has planned for me. God has planned for me to worship my Creator and the sacrifice he made through his Son so that I might have a part in his glory.
Suicide is not acceptable by God. There are those who would teach otherwise. Those others do not know the truth, but have been deceived by the evil one. The devil is no amateur, he's been tempting people for thousands of years.

As a keeper of a prisoner, it is not acceptable for you to let your prisoner commit suicide. That's how it is. Regardless of who they are it isn't allowed. Suicide is against the law, period.
Nobody ever said it was "okay" for the suicide bombers to do what they did.

Suicide bombers decide to take their own lives as a form of protest, political usually. I suspect it is acceptable because they view it as an act that will please God in that they are taking the lives of Infidels also in the process of taking their own lives, in the name of Allah of course. It is therefore different from a prisoner taking his own life because it would not serve a greater good. I think maybe a Muslim might have a better answer.

in the religious viewpoint there is a difference. The bombers are dying for there faith. They see it as a war and they are sacrificing themselves to their god, But for the men at Gitmo, they died not to protect their god and their faith. To their religous elders they would have been suicides due to their "lack-of-faith" to their god. That is main difference in the two in the religious viewpoint.

Suicide is wrong all around. Suicides take the will of God in their own hands. I believe a persons soul belongs to God and God decides when that person dies. Why do they take the life God gave them and destroy it.

It is believed that the bombers do it for religious reasons and that killing yourself in jail is for your own reasons...Pray for those crazy people, they need it.
