I've had mine for 6 years and while she's a little dog, she's got a HUGE personality. She was awesome for apartment living b/c she is small. Not hyper at all. She grumbles when she's grumpy and is very nebby about everything, especially shopping bags. She's my "fierce hunter" when it comes to any insects, which me being a girl, is awesome...she's an awesome watch dog, we know when someone's at the door, even before they ring the bell. She takes up more space in the king size bed than my hubby or me--no sleeping in a kennel, they NEED to be with you. She gets some separation anxiety and we have to pen her in the kitchen or she tries to come with, but when we get back, you'd think we'd been gone for weeks b/c her stump wags like crazy and her ears go back. She malingers. This is common in the breed. She'll pretend to hurt her paw and limp and give you the "doe eyes" (complete w/ tears) and get sympathy, then the limp will switch paws. She's an escape artist. This is also common. She can't go out w/out being on a leash b/c she will run. A big con is that it took almost 2 years to get her consistently housebroken b/c she WOULDN'T BE BROKEN. She's defiant and unless she wants to do something, she doesn't do it. They associate w/ one gender, depending on what they spend the most time with as a puppy. Mine identifies with women b/c of me, so she hates all men unless they're related to me or my hubby b/c I think they smell like us. She steals candy from babies. Yeah, no remorse about that, either. She shivers and gets cold in the winter, so she has to rock the Old Navy doggie sweaters. Not exactly cool if you're a dude w/ this dog. She's very protective and has no concept of her tiny size. She thinks she's MASSIVE. She's fearless, she's evil, she's loyal, and I highly recommend the breed b/c they'll make you laugh on a daily basis.

They are nervous pets. Keep voices and noise to moderate level. You dont have to whisper just watch for that yelling. They have a tremendous amount of energy and are very playful. They are good around kids. They are very harmless. They must be watched because they will sneak out of the tiniest hole in a fence or the slightest crack in an open door. Also avoid big dogs. They will insist on playing with big dogs big dogs tend to not know their own strength against a little dog like that and the min pin will be hurt. They can be properly trained too. Go to the AKC.Com web pages. You will get all the info you need on any breed helpful tips on medical treatment and training as well. Its the best place for any new dog owner.

Small assertive most of the time poorly behaved dogs. Spoiled by and owner who thinks they are cute and does not ever disipline the dog. Also a shreaking banshee little voice that could drive a person nuts.
They can be wonderful dogs with some training and manners but to often people do not take the time to train them and they are pushy little monsters.
My best friends Mom has one and he is very sweet little guy but he has been trained and has lots of manners. He is a fun little dog with lots of attitude just in a small package.

No, no, and did I mention no? That is my opinion, they are just hyperactive to the extreme. I had one at one time, I found it trying to gnaw a hole in the middle of the wall and I had enough. I am pit kinda person myself. If you are in an apartment though and could handle the hyperness then you might have found yourself a good match.

Min pins are very smart little dogs, and also very, very hyper. A lot of people do not want a dog this hyper. I love the breed, used to raise them myself. Great little dogs.

Barking, barking, dog aggression, barking, peeing on the couch, barking, barking, barking, peeing on the recliner, barking, defecating on the bed, biting the neighbor's kid, barking.... Not good apartment dogs, need early training and to be treated like a dog - not an ornament.
