in my experience it is because the pagan religions are so accepting of different people. to my knowledge there aren't too many tenants that bar you from living a certain lifestyle, or dressing a certain way, or speaking a certain way, or even worshipping a certain way. paganism teaches you a lot about personal fulfillment and giving back to the earth that created you. they don't preach hate, or discrimination, or subjugation based on sex, race, creed, etc. and they are not connected to a vast, sometimes corrupt beauracracy that perverts the true meaning of any religion.

We are in the information age where there is more info than ever on a myriad of subjects. Religious conversions are up on the grand scale as well because iformation that was never readliy available is there at your fingertips.
Wicca wasnt made a federally recognized religon until 1984, so it was hard to get any kind of recognition because before then, we had no rights as a religion.
Now that is a legal religon lin the US, it has been steadily gaining momentum. The internet with all its information has opened a myriad of facets to engage in conversation and study wicca.
Also, Wicca and Paganism offer certain things that other mainstream religions don'e. A connection with the Divine Female is one of the biggest reasons for people, especially women to start studying Pagan Religions. Almost all Pagan religions have a Goddess or Goddesses as well as a male God figure. Secondly, Pagan religions rarely have Dogma that inhibits the way people live their lives. Besides not condoning violence, most pagan religions allow participants to lead their own lives. This attracts people who are shunned by other religions such as homosexuals, transgendered, bisexuals, polyamorous, etc. Thirdly, Paganism offers a more personal and tangible Divine. Because of the Natural aspect to our dieties, Pagans can feel closer to the Gods. Also, we become our own Priest/Priestess so we have control over our own path.
There are several other reasons as well. People who are looking to explore their psychic or magickal potential also seek out Pagansim because of the Old Religion magickal systems.

Wicca, paganism and other earth based religions offer a more participatory action within the religion where as, and I AM NOT saying anything bad against christians, a religion such as christianity you go to church and listen, sing and give tithes. At least that was the extent of participation I encountered growing up in the church. The earth based religions are joyous, experiences and I very thoroughly enjoy mine!

Because it is an earth based religion not a religion based on money.
It is not run by men for men. Women are of equal value.
It teaches people to take responsibility for their lives, the lives of others and the Earth.
All religions should have the same qualities.

Plain and simple, We are learning to be tolerant, and more open. Its a natural progression for the world to move this direction. Native Indians base their in the earth, its natural balances, animal, its commoditites, and the spirits of past present and future.
Organized religion I think has been dinged majorly by all the scandles and cover-ups for centurties, and as we research and dig we are finding holes.
Most of these earth-based religions have been around just as long. We were just told not to believe in them becasue it was against the church and god, just another means of controlling people.

Because wiccan and paganism was around before the so-called faith in god. The catholic religion was based after druidism had died down, because it wasn't accepatable in "upstanding ppl" lives and religions were formed so that they could all go somewhere to practice their "faith". "Earth based religions" were the first and the most powerful faiths in the world. It is close-minded ppl that tried to tear it down. But as you can see for yourselves it is coming back faster and stronger than ever...Blessed Be.

I believe they are attracting so many new followers because so many people are frustrated with the traditionally accepted organized religions. There are so many people in the world right now who listen in their churches and temples, but still feel that something is missing from their faith. I think it's quite wonderful to see such a return to the Old Ways.
Blessed Be

I think it has to do with the idea that their is freedoms not restricted to any specific agenda.
There is a romance idea associated with paganism that people like to think relates to them. Since paganism is not orthodox, meaning organized and strictly ruled to hell and back by ruler swatting priestesses, it gives quite a bit of flexibility to the practicioner.
If you believe in something and you can not identify this something with anything existing already, no longer does the person feel they have to conform to society's ideas....now they can simply practice whatever they wish.....as long as it conforms to the state and federal laws of the land they practice within....one can simply mold their faith into something they deem tangible and call it their religion and feel comfort in that.
