Have you been drinking? ;o)

I can't help you with this, 'cause it's not in the Bible.

What ARE you reading these days?

(Some of these answers are scary.)

I'm not certain about this, because I haven't looked it up, and I don't know the context, but just by reading that quote the first thing that comes to mind is this:

If a person surrenders everything even the thing most precious to them to God through their own free will (metaphorically the most precious thing being children, and 'with your own hand' possibly meaning by your own will)- then the person will be restored to life (the return of joy, wholeness, through God).

In other words, sometimes believers (in God) hang onto something in their life which prevents them from living the fullness of life that God has for them (it could be a romantic relationship with a non-christian, which in my case it was) - but only when they surrender (give it up/end it) this to God will things change for the better - only then will they fully and entirely experience God.
It wouldn't mean literally anything to do with actually cutting off your children's heads.

I don't know if that's what the quote means, but it's good advice anyway i reckon.

Alright now this is from a fictional story by the Brother's Grimm why are you asking Christians to explain this story? It's not one I have ever read nor would I recommend the reading of it. To each their own.

What verse is it? I'd like to check it out.

Um...that isn't from the Bible.
Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm. Household Tales.
The Harvard Classics. 1909–14.

It means kill your children and sprinkle him with blood, how much plainer does it need to be. EW, what a book, puts the brothers Grimm to shame.

If it were from the BIBLE, maybe we could help. I've been reading the Bible since I was 4 years old (yeah, early reader) and I have never run across that one. Not there. And you do know what it means.....or else you wouldn't have asked. But it doesn't matter anyway......just a fairy tale.

I would explain it to you, but it would be like casting my pearls before swine.

No offense, I'm not calling you a pig or anything, the phrase means it's useless to offer the knowledge that is your treasure to someone such as you, who will merely trample on it.

Sounds about right for christianity.

It's from one of those old fairy tale books like "Atheists of the Third Kind" or something like that.

It means REPENT!!!! the end is NEAR!!!

And, Jesus loves you, so repent before he has to send you to hell.

I'll bet you never thought to interpret it like that, did you?
