I don't hate them, but I know people who did... until I made them, that is. Some people don't like it because their parents didn't make them right, and they turned out gummy (overmashing them), dry and pasty (not enough dairy), soupy (you guessed it: too much liquid) or too lumpy (personal taste... I like a few chunks in mine) Also, people tend to drown their mashed potatoes in sub-standard gravy with lots of lumps and no flavor, only adding to the problem. I'd try them at a really good restaurant first (since it's a side, you might not get a choice anyway) and see if you like them better when done correctly. Then read up and learn how to make them yourself (if you liked the professionally made stuff, obviously) Your family may thank you for it, if they didn't know how to do it right before.

Nope, i like mashed potatoes! Its not my fave though because i would prefer fries or even a roast potato!

I didn't know anyone hated mashed potatoes. That's kinda anti- American.

I'm not a huge fan of them. I'd rather baked or cubed and boiled with a little butter.

They are my favorite food. I would eat them for every meal if they didn't take so much time to make.
