like this girl i graduated from high school with asked me if i was still a virgin and i was like "yeah" and she seemed to be in shock. and alot of other people don't think being 19 you should still be one. why do people find this really as a shock?

First of all let me say How wonderfull it is that you are still a virgin. So many people take there virginity for granite. Most peoples first time is'nt even special because they just do it to do it. Your virginity is not something to be given away lightly.
People are generally in shock over that, because there are so few people/ladies that care enough about themselves to wait. You are trully a rare jewl, and you will be treasured by the man that you do decide to give yourself to.

Some people have no imagination.
People think that everything is like the OC or whatever teen fantasy show is popular this year. I remember waaaay back in the 1970s watching tv shows targeted at my age group (yes, I was a teen.) They would show kids doing stuff that, to my mind, was age inappropriate. I figured it was just fantasy.
If they find it odd that you're a virgin, they probably have difficulty telling the difference between reality and fantasy. Ignore them.
And it's possible that some of them are virgins too - and secretly glad to hear someone else is!

Society has been socialized through the media to be promiscuous and have sex early. A lot of television shows depict teenage girls having multiple partners and babies. Had this happened 40 years ago in the 60's and the sexual revolution, these programs would have been shut down. The morals of the country, as a whole, have changed. The public exposure of sexual activities on television makes it more shocking for people to not engage in sexual intercourse than to have multiple partners.

You do it when you are ready, do not worry about what people think. It makes no difference if you are a virgin or not. So if people make a smart comment to you, tell them to stick their heads up their ****.
