I have a 2 year old male at home right now, my cats have always been indoors only cats. He's a bit of a big baby as in of course he is spoiled rotten. My older Cat (female) and my kitten (male) have both passed away and now he is by himself again.

It has been my experience that two males or two females don't get along as well as having one male and one female. I have never had a problem with a cat of each gender living together. But you will need to introduce the new cat to the older cat gradually. Keep the new cat in a safe room by itself and gradually bring it out for short periods of time. The first few days, go into the room with the new cat and spend some time with it several times a day and of course you'll have its food and water and kitty litter in the room with it so the older cat can't get at that stuff. After a short time, they will become good friends.

Get a female cats. Males are more likely to accept a female into their area (whether fixed or not) because a female is a possible mate. Whereas if you bring in another male, you'll have terroritory fights. So a female is better since like I said, she is more likely to be accepted and it will keep him around because a male cat will hang around as long as there is a female around.

I would get a female mostly because it's hard to get 2 males to live together nicely unless they're both the same age and you get them at the same time. females tend to be the queen of the house but there shouldn't be any real confrentations if you get her young. if the male isn't fixed though you'll want to do that before the kitten turns 9 months old because as soon as she starts going into heat he'll spray. and you should get her fixed no later than 7 months if you want to sleep at night

It depends on if he is neutered or not. If he is it shouldn't make a difference. It never did for my cats. If he isn't then a female would be they way to go. Just make sure you get her spayed so you don't end up with a house full of kitties. Plus females in heat are annoying.

Get a female ~ they tend to be a little less aggressive then males. And make sure that when introducing them, do it slowly. Keep them in seperate rooms if possible and slowly introduce them to each other. It helps both cats to stop feeling too intimidated

Get a female but spay and neuter both cats. You don't want kittens.

All other things being equal, two neutered males tend to get along with each other better than any other combination. Of course, all other things are not equal, as cats have individual personalities.

You might want to get a female kitten, so he doesn't feel challenged for domination. Also a female kitten will be more subdued than a male kitten (who tend to be hyper).

You should get a male because they get bigger. I love big cats, that's why I have a ragdoll! Also, if you got a female, there could be more fights.
