Doesn't common sense tell you that faith in certain things is OK? And don't talk to me about an easter bunny, santa clause, or the flying spaghetti monster. None of them claim to be the Creator. And none of them have a best selling book OF ALL TIME written about them.

radagast 23 - "Certainly it is reasonable to demand scientific proof before you accept something like creationism or God."
It is? When it is clear that God resists being "found" that way. And that God wants us to have faith. Reason is, is because God knows that his word, regarding morality and love in general IS RIGHT. Thats why rejection of the scriptures is evil in and of itself.

"I am sure the Koran, an equally mythic book -- will match the sales figures."
The Bible is the #1 best seller of all time as of now period. This will not change, especially if the "end of days" events are close.

The Judeo/Christian religion has been around since "Let there be light".
I'd call that longevity.

What do you mean by "proof".

Dr. Max Planck, 1858 - 1947, was given the Nobel Prize in Physics, for his work on the Atom. He, Einstein and David Bohm are among the greatest scientific minds on the planet regarding Physics and Quantum Physics.

Max Planck http://nobelprize.org/physics/laureates/1918/planck-bio.html

Upon accepting the Nobel Prize, Planck said: "As a man who has devoted his whole life to the most clearheaded science, the study of matter, I can tell you as the result of my research about atoms, this much: There is no matter, as such. All matter originates and exists only by virtue of a force which brings the particle of an atom to vibration and holds this most minute solar system together. We must assume behind this force the existence of a conscious and intelligent mind. This mind is he matrix of all matter."

Einstein said, "I want to know how God thinks, the rest is just details".

More recently, science also put particles of matter in a "particle accelerator" and collided them at 250,000 MPH to see what created matter. When they completed and opened it up looking for their Source, they saw, nothing. No thing. It was concluded that matter does not create matter.

One could say the abundance of the Source of all Creation is the eternal expression of Infinite Intelligence that animates and binds all things together. Omnipresent, Omniscient and Omnipotent. It reveals the human connection with the Source of their Creation through Divine Laws which we call human-rights.

Humankind cannot accurately understand that which is infinite. We're not infinite and we don't compute infinite terms. On the other hand, we are spiritual and most can barely comprehend spiritual terms. We're not focused on what we need. We're focused on the terms of the Corporate mockery of Democracy.

Dr. David R. Hawkins M.D. Ph.D., "Power vs. Force", can tell you about the science of Orthomolecular Psychiatry and the relationship between Cause and Effect. That the Earth is a planet of effect(s). It lacks the power of Causality. Causality is the relationship of cause to effect. Cause comes from an invisible part inside our awareness/consciousness and becomes visible as we express it into the outside world.

Expressing successful principles create successful cultures. Like the principles of American freedom. Both visible and invisible principles are common in our daily lives.

For example: Honesty is a successful principle at the core of any successful culture. Yet honesty, of itself, doesn't exist in the outside/external world. Honesty is a self-evident truth like equality, forgiveness, peace, joy, freedom and love. They come from an invisible place inside our own awareness/consciousness and become visible as we express them in the outside world.

Perhaps, rather than going on denying scientific proof we don't understand, what's really needed is a more systematic or scientific approach to the information we individually acquire about the Source of Creation. I'd start with the meanings and definitions of the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God, as mandated in the first sentence of the American Declaration of Independence.

Certainly it is reasonable to demand scientific proof before you accept something like creationism or God.

As for the best selling book of all time -- as Islam's third world countries become more literate, I am sure the Koran, an equally mythic book -- will match the sales figures.

If you are looking for longevity, perhaps goddess worship, which has survived thousands of years of patriarchal attempts to destroy it might attract your attention.

Myth has nothing to do with reality.

I by the way believe in deity and am fairly active in a mainstream Church -- but for goodness sake, I don't believe in creationism, its a joke -- and Biblegod -- which is really what you mean by god, even more so.

Yes, demand proof, or at least have the courage to ask yourself why there isn't any.

As for the stars in Orion -- it isn't only Jehovah that was giving away astronomical lessons. Oddly, the Dogon apparently knew about the stars, particularly Sirius (The Sirius Mystery by Robert Temple) They however had been told there weren't any Gods by their "friends" -- so they regarded and treated the visitors (the Nommo) -- whom they said came from the sky -- much like gods, but completely rejected the Western view of deity.

Who knows what is giving out astronomical data?

I'm just pretty sure it isn't a supernatural force.

Faith is something unseen and doesn't have to be proven, but the Bible proves itself more and more all the time. A good example is Amos 5, verse 8, where it talks about the 7 stars and Orion. That was written over 3000 years ago and the seventh star wasn't even visible until the Hubble telescope was set in place.

Well if you want proof of things then yes demand it, but the whole thing about the Bible and God is FAITH. as far as scientific ideals then yes DEMAND PROOF. For example the big bang theory, after all scientific principles are supposed to be based in facts. It's all up to you

Hebrews 11:1 "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. "

Questioning claims and requiring evidence is always a good thing. Religious faith is a poor indicator of what is actually true.

History is filled with ideas that many people believed yet turned out to be false. Flat earth, geocentric universe, Greek and Roman gods, etc.

If the Bible is true, there should be physical evidence supporting its claims. If you cannot find evidence to support its claims, the Bible should be rejected.

If you want scientific proof of God you won't get it in this life. If you want to experiment with faith to the point that it is no longer faith but knowledge; you can receive that in this life. It is up to you to find truth. Science doesn't prove anything. It allows humans to come to terms with reality. Science is man's most wonderful invention to rationalize what ever he/she wishes to believe is true. Look at Al Gore. The man uses pseudo science to get millions to think we are going to have the sequel to Noah's Flood at any moments time. He twists the words and statistics of Global Warming studies to fit an agenda that offers him the most profit. He doesn't care about truth or facts.

I think it's a personal choice, if u need scientific proof before u accept something then wait for it, and if u don't, if u can have faith then that's OK also, needing proof or not needing proof does not make u a bad person or a smarter person, it's just different people's preferences, we all think differently, so we all need different reasons to believe in things.

As much as I hate to say this it's fine to place your faith in something other than GOD (if there is one)...Try placing your faith in yourself and those nearest and dearist to you. There are many of us idealists that place our faith in HUMANITY. God is a creation of man and isn't deserving of worship per se...God exists today to answer the questions that our science isn't advanced enough to address like: Why are we here? or Why do we exist? I urge you to check the following web site for information on how to bring your belief system into a more Secular realm (FAITH IN HUMANITY)...www.uua.org

Live your life respecting yourself, others, and the environment! PEACE and Good Will Be With You!

You are entitled to YOUR beliefs and Your opinions, just don't try to impose them onto others.
If Steven King books was in every hotel room, they to would be the best selling book OF ALL TIME, and given the choice of the Bible or a horror, it would be the most read book OF ALL TIME.
And I believe in the Easter bunny and Santa Clause.
