check out local classes in your area.
if you are in school, see if there are classes there as well.
borders, barnes & noble, and other bookstores have Japanese language books ..check those out as well.
search the net for resources as well. but self- teaching Japanese is not the best approach as it will be difficult to properly learn characters and grammar on one's own.
good luck:)

Join the Army and attend the premiere language school, get paid while you learn a language, and get a Federal Top Secret Clearance. That's good for a resume'. You also can get up to an extra $1000 a month for being fluent, even if we teach you the language.
The Rposetta Stone is free for all soldiers to refresh language skills, or to learn another language.

find some Japanese friends who can help you out
you know, I watch one Anime "Naruto" and one guy says
Usura Tonkachi
I'll never understand that without real Japanese people tell all detail of that word for me
so the best way is to learn with human
the book and other stuff can't help that much

I speak Japanese quite fluently, and the truth is, you will NEVER learn a language online.
Look in your local listings for a qualified tutor and good luck!

You'll never learn a language online without an actual teacher in real life.
