I think it is really excellent when someone puts a date on their prophecy. Since the bible says the way to test a prophet is to see if what they say comes to pass, this is a great way to determine if the people and methods making a prophecy are valid.
Deuteronomy Chapter 18 tells us the prophet's prophecies must come to pass.
But I wonder, when the prophecy does not happen, will people still hold to these kinds of things? Or will they ignore the 'miss' and continue to think the day and hour can be revealed?

Whenever someone claims to know the date for the end of Israel or the world, I just have to laugh. Matthew 24 warns us about people like that, especially verse 36: "But no one knows of that day and hour, not even the angels of heaven, but my Father only."
August 3, 2006 will be like any other day. The sun will rise, the sun will set. I'll go to the office after taking her to zoo camp and I'll probably drink at least 3 diet sodas. Israel will still exist and I will remember this question and laugh.

I took a look at those sites, and really, the Bible Code cannot be used for reliable prophecy. There are so many codes intertwining with each other, and the way ancient Hebrew writes dates leaves it WIDE open to interpretation.
On the other hand, maybe I'm biased, cause I'm supposed to go on vacation starting August 3rd...

I have a letter from my mother excusing me from all extra-curricular activities. Hopefully this will stand me in good stead.
Just out of interest, as there's been a few such promises, is this one really going to come this time or will it be like the buses. You've waited around for ages and then three come at once.
If said letter doesn't help (in which case mum'll be miffed) I guess my comment would be, "Its not like it was in the book, they always mess it up."

My husband studies bible prophecy . He frequently remarks that soon Damacus will be a heap of ruin. With the Israeli soldier supposedly being held in Syria, and Israel standing firm on insisting his safe return, this next few weeks should be immensely interesting to observe. Watching prophesy unfold is awesome. Keep you head and heart straight with the Lord and don't forget in all your praying to Pray for Jerusalem.

The world ended on 6/6/06, remember? Or was is Y2K? I can't be expected to keep these things straight when people like you keep moving the date around.

The Mayan calender ends on Dec. 21st 2012. that's why people think the world will end then.
But, what if... the mayan's just got tired of writing it and figured no one would be around by then anyway?

Why are some people so willing to believe every little piece of crap but not the truth? I think they're trying to tell us something about themselves. Maybe like that's what's in there heads instead of brains.

I have heard of a code "Hidden" in both the bible and the Koran (Different spellings) BUT why cannot people see the "Unhidden" or "OPEN" code in both books? Just be nice to one another!
