The deepest part of the ocean is an area called the Mariana Trench and reaches a depth of 35,839 feet. Just to give you a reference, that is 1.25 miles taller than Mt. Everest.

It varies. The deepest known point is called the Challenger Deep found in the Marianas Trench in the Pacific. It's 7 miles deep.
