I haven't talked to a recruiter yet, but that's the first thing on my list for Monday morning.

As far as I know the Air Force has no official program for that before you join (I got out in July 2004), but a lot of times the recruiter will help you out and have other people who need to lose weight all work out and run together and stuff. I had to lose some weight too, and my recruiter had a special diet for me which worked pretty good. I actually didn't run at all or work out before joining, but if you get down to the weight you need to be, I don't think you'll have a problem. I never had a problem running or anything in basic training, it's not that bad at all. It's really not crazy like you might think from the movies and stuff. With that said, it's still a good idea to exercise before joining, it won't hurt. Anyway, good luck to you and have a good career.

Most recruiters will work out with you if they really need to sign your butt up. If they don't, tell them to get their lily butts up and actually do some PT. Tell them it will help them get in shape for their PAT. Seriously, if they don't, ask them to help you. If they won't take a quick walk over to the Navy. They have a program called the DEP Program(Delayed Entry), it is there to prepare you for basic. Oh, and an added bonus, The Navy guarantees your job choice in writing, The Air Force, does not. That means, you WILL get the job you request and sign up for. The AF can say you will be one thing to get you on the plane and switch it on you when you get to Lackland AF Base for basic. Please be well informed before making your decision. PLEASE!!!!

if you are FAT go see the army the air force knows they don't PT so you won't lose much in basic, they have stricter guidlines about weight control because NOBODY LOSES 50 lbs @ air force basic like I did at Ft.Jackson in the summer of 1986.also when you return home a PUMPED UP SOLDIER the high school PUNKS will RUN SCARED if they treated you bad and that is WORTH PLENTY,you ever met any air force personell that SCARED YOU, i didn't think so-LOL

PYLE!!! YOU LOOK LIKE 200 POUNDS OF CHEWED BUBBLE GUM!!

God, I love "Full Metal Jacket"!

Get in shape and lose the fat before you go in. The Chair Force has new Physical Readiness Standards. Similar to the Navy. Run a mile and a half, and do push ups and sit ups. Get the weight off before you go in so you don't have to constantly fight to remain in standards. I eventually got my butt into shape and I'm glad I did. Much less hassle.
