I think that it depends on what is in the mind of the person doing the bowing. If they merely mean to show respect and humility, then it's ok. If they mean to worship, and the person is not worthy of worship, then it's not ok.

I think it's good to bow down to people. Despite the demeanor or disposition of the person you're bowing to, it still shows respect and humility. In fact, I'll go back to times when you came before the king. You would bow first, showing reverence (which is respect) to someone in authority over you. Nowadays, you bow in courtesy just to show respect for that person.

With bowing down to Jesus, it really should be a laying prostrate before him. That is total submission to him.

But yeah, I think it's good to bow. It shows respect to the person you're bowing to (^_^)

It really depends... on your mood, your situation, and who you're bowing to.

Being a laid-back person, I'd being willing to bow to anyone who I don't hate. I also play saxophone, so at the end of the performance I bow to the audience.

To bow before people is to show humility and to eliminate ego which are Divine qualities.

Om Nama Shivaya is said to others in greeting by Hindu's. It means "I bow to the Supreme Being that is in you". It means that we bow to the Divine that is within each one of us. In order to reconnect and reawaken our Divinity, we must be humble and surrender the ego to everyone.
