GO NAVY!!!
The SEABEE motto "We build, We Fight, Can Do"
Construction Mechanic is as you speak a person that works on heavy equipment such as Dozers, Frountend loaders, Cranes, ect. Also works on Hummers, 6packs, Full size trucks, Semis, etc. You would learn how to work on gas and diesel equipment. You will also be trained as an foot soldier. Good luck on your choice.

Vehicle mechanic? The Navy is about Ships, and going to sea - what you are talking about is a sub-segment of the Navy that is only around to fill in a few gaps (seabees... c'mon).

There is a job that you speak of, but: (a) there are hardly any seabees in the Navy, when compared to the rest of the population, and (b) they don't need that many mechanics. So, what you are shooting for is a small job in a small community - not that easy to get. If you can convince a recruiter to get you that job, you are probably going to have to wait a year or so to come into the Navy, then at any point along your training if you fail to perform... it's *bam* out to the fleet to chip paint for a couple of years (they need lots of people to do that, but nobody ever asks for it).

Seems to me that the ARMY has a lot more trucks that need servicing - so you might have better luck there.

Cheers!

if all you want to do is fix car/truck engines.. the Navy isn't the palce to do it. The navy uses aircraft engines..even on some of their ships.

CMs don't primarily fix vehicles, they make buildings appear out in the middle of nowhere.
