I was raped when I was 12 by my 18yo cousin, and I didn't tell anyone for 3 years. He actually did it a few times, but I was to afraid to say, and he told me if I told anyone he would come back to get me. When I finally did tell someone, he got sent to jail for his charges, and life started to get a little better bit by bit (although it's still really hard).
I was wondering if people told, and did it make it easier if you told from the start or if you waited a while?

p.s this is just a query, I don't want to hurt peoples feelings, so don't answer if this question is to hard for you to handle

Wow..Sorry about your situation. I hadn't been raped but I was molested when I was a child by 2 family members. I never told. One guy later got caught for doing it again and got sent to prison. The other nobody knows about but my brother and I. It's hard to move on. I can't remember most of my childhood from age 10 back. I don't know if that is just my subconcious blocking out the bad things. Although I do remember the incidents so why can't I remember anything else. Kudos to you for finally coming forward. At the age you were when it happened, I'm not surprised that you were afraid. Nor am I surprised that he used fear to keep you from talking. I was not raped, but had been attacked a few times during my life. The first time was when I was 6 and it was one of my brothers friends. I was already a victim of sexual abuse from my father and therefore was not aware that I had the right to say no to this boy. It sounds strange but it's true.Luckily he was too inexperienced to know what he was doing. Throughout my childhood and teen years there were a few more instances of such behavior from different boys. I only wish that I had known back then about date rape, and that just because you know the person does not mean it's not considered rape or attempted rape.
I applaud you for your bravery and for your strength. I hope that other girls who read this will find the strength they need to either come forward about their own rape, or find the strength to scream at a would be attacker....NO! I WONT ALLOW YOU TO MAKE ME YOUR VICTIM! The only person that deserve to be punished in these situations is the attacker. NEVER let someone make you think that you "deserved" what happened.

my rapes started at the ripe old age of 3 no one listened and it wasn't until the age of 12 that the "brute was finally caught. Did it help? no , he spent 3 months in jail, came home handed me a necklace with praying hands on it and raped me the same night, I ended up a mother at 13 but my daughter DID NOT live thru what I did. I would NEVER allow that to happen. She is 30 now and owns a home and is a great mother herself. I know this hasn't helped or answered your question but know that YOU can stop the cycle.

You are very brave for even coming forward to say anything, not I've never been raped(thank God) but there were times where I was pretty close and just to be touched by someone that you don't want to touch you can make you feel pretty awful, so keep your head up and DO NOT BLAME YOURSELF FOR ANYTHING.
