not only that, but god's don't die and they don't suffer.. Plenty of real people suffered the same fate as christ and worse.... we don't shed a tear for their pain.

You sure are thinking about this a lot. Since I am a Christian, I believe God is tapping on your shoulder to give Him a look.
The Hebrew Scriptures (Old Testament) tells us that God is holy. He cannot be around sin. He created man sinless too, but gave man a free will to choose whether or not he would sin.
The punishment for sin is death, and God told Him that right off. Man chose to sin. Being good is not good enough. Man has to NEVER have committed a sin.
Man had to be separated from Holy God. God instructed man how to make sacrifices to Him for his sin if He wanted to continue a relationship of any kind.
God illustrates to man all through the Old testament how to make the sacrifices, what purpose they serve, and that they are required for salvation. Pure. No flaws. Best they had. No arguing, no bargaining. He's God, and He makes the rules.
All through the prophets' writings He points to someone whom He will send at some point to "save" His children, his children being the Jews.
Jesus was born. According to the first four books of the New Testament, Jesus was this awaited deliverer. His mission was to live a sinless life, then allow himself to be sacrificed to God. The perfect, holy, sinless sacrifice required by God. For everyone, Jew and the rest of us, alike.
Since none of us are perfect, we couldn't pay the debt even if we wanted to. Jesus paid it. The only guy who didn't deserve death paid for the rest of us.
His prayer right before he was arrested shows that he had a choice too. That story is in the Gospel of John.
The choice Jesus made enabled God to be able to circumvent His own rule about sinful man having to be separated from His Holy Self.
Pretty smart, huh.
Did He have too? Of course not. He is God.
Did He do it? Yes. Why?
John 3:16...."for God so LOVED the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believes on him will not perish but have everlasting life."
btw, Jesus was the first Teacher to preach that men and women are equal in the sight of God.
If you would like to keep discussing this, please e-mail me. God bless your sweet, searching soul.

Seriously ...Jesus is NOT God. That's an insult. And he had to die because before he came along, people had to sacrifice animals every year to atone for their sins. But they were only animals and obviously didn't last very long (1 year) sooooo Jesus, being a perfect human and sinless was a much better sacrifice for the sins of all man, and to last until God's Kingdom comes.

Sin requires blood to cleanse, to pay for the sin. Jesus came to die for us as there was nobody else whose blood would do, that was as pure. He died so we would not have to die the second death but have life everlasting. Nobody can live a pure life without Christ no matter how hard they try or what they may tell themselves. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. NObody comes to the Father but by Jesus. So in that way your friends are correct. If you do not want to accept Jesus, you cannot enter into Heaven. Check out the site below for more info and for studies that will tell you more how to know Him.

You may think you can be good and live purely but all you can really do is say that you can. And besides your professed goodness does not act as a qualifier for entry into eternity with God. God came to save that which was lost in the fall and since you are so "good" then that leaves you out. God demonstrates His Love toward us in that while we were yet sinners Christ Died for the ungodly and since you can't make the claim to be ungodly then the deals off for you.

John 3:16....Read this...Christian's were not the first to say this...we are just Quoting God's/Jesus' words....If it weren't for Jesus taking this pain for our sins....WE would be paying the price...but God loves us so much ,that He sacrificed His only SON to take OUR punishment ...all we have to do is ACCEPT JESUS into our hearts...and confess Jesus as OUR Lord and Savior...then we can SEE Heaven...then we get emerged in water in Baptism..out of obedience...THEN we can ENTER into Heaven. Jesus was Baptized too. We should NOT spend our lives condemning God/Jesus....We should be showing our gratitude. Jesus payed a VERY PAINFUL price so that we can be forgiven ...and be saved from HELL. Read the Holy Scriptures and really let GOD'S words sink in. May God Bless
One thing is for sure...regardless of what all these other people say,you will be standing in front of GOD yourself sometime ,you might think back to some of these answers you have gotten....you will then know FIRST HAND who you should have listened to...now listen to what God has to say...because WHEN you are standing in FRONT of GOD....you'll wish you had taken heed.

Jesus is not god Almighty, he is the son of the Most Holy Father Jehovah God. Jehovah can not lie. Jesus died for our sins so that we can live forever on earth what Adam and Eve lost. remember the meek will inherit the earth. Jehovah God did not change his mind, but we have to wait on him. remember Jehovah did not destroy the land with the flood, only the bad people.

Look, it is just a story, in a book written by men. When god decided to experience life as a human, in order to gain compassion and insight into what it was like to be human she decided to be born as Jesus.
Since there really is no place as "heaven", that other stuff resally isn't important. Most bible people will just say that heaven is with god, and hell is without god. Sorry, no angels, harps, white puffy clouds.

Romans 3:23-26
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, [24] being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus; [25] whom God displayed publicly as a propitiation in His blood through faith. This was to demonstrate His righteousness, because in the forbearance of God He passed over the sins previously committed; [26] for the demonstration, I say, of His righteousness at the present time, so that He would be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.
John 3:16-18
"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. [17] "For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. [18] "He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God."
Rev. 20:11-15
[11] Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat upon it, from whose presence earth and heaven fled away, and no place was found for them. [12] And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged from the things which were written in the books, according to their deeds. [13] And the sea gave up the dead which were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead which were in them; and they were judged, every one of them according to their deeds. [14] Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. [15] And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire."

Why would the disciples preach the gospel to gain money/etc.? Do you know how Paul, the apostle, lived? He was beaten, suffered cold, hunger, and was even stoned to proclaim those Words.
God didn't create the Earth to be how it is now. Why would He do such thing? He created us to be perfect, and so we were. There was no pain, no suffering, no AIDS, nothing bad at all. The woman (Eve, in that case) was respected equally, the difference is that she was created to be different from the man. Because of all the opression women suffered through history, many in the name of Christianity (that really wasn't true Christianity), people think wrong things. God loves all of us equally. But you can't say a dog is a horse, and can do the same things as a horse, because it clearly isn't. But if you own both as pets, you won't love them differently just because they are different (that was just a rude example of how things work). All that's wrong is because of mankind.
There were two choices in the very beginning, to remain obedient and perfect and to disobey and take its consequences. The man chose the wrong one. You may ask: then why God create man with a choice that would ruin everything forever? Well, that's up to Him to know, but one thing is certain: we weren't supposed to be puppets. So, with sin, everything fell because of man.
Now let me give you another example: if you had commited a crime, a horrible one, and the only way to be reddemed was by climbing mount Everest with nothing but your clothes, or swimming to the dephts of the ocean (with nothing but your clothes as well) to get a treasure and pay for your freedom, when would you be able to make it? The answer is: never. So if anyone offered to do that for you, even if, after paying the debt, he would die, what would be your reaction? Again that's a rude example of how God loved you. He had to send His only Son because it was the only way to pay the debt, not for someone's life, but for the whole world's lives. You might ask: but once He's God, couldn't He find another way? That's up to Him to know. Everything He does is the best. But do you think He ever liked to see His Son die that way? Many people were crucified in those days because of their awful crimes, but it wasn't only death in a cross itself (as if it was not sufficient to pay for all horrible things He never did), it was the burden of sin, the heaviest, of all mankind. Can you imagine such pain? Of course not. None of us can.
Back to that example. So, after that person paying the debtt for you, would you waste it? Just keep living your way, trying to find some way to make it without any help? I don't have to answer this.
So, after such demonstration of love, care and all good things (God doesn't have love, He is Love itself), the only thing left for us to do is surrender at His feet, giving our entire lives to Him, so that we can enjoy the fullness of hope and love, and have a certainty that we are going to survive after death, be given brand-new and spotless bodies, to enjoy what we were really meant to be in the new Earth. We are not going to heven really, in my point of view that's just a way to make things easier to explain, we are going to a totally new Earth, that will be created, after this old and hopeless one ends for ever.
I hope this has been useful to you. Simply talk to God as if you were talking to a human being, and ask Him to open your eyes so you can see the Truth.
I really hope this was useful to you and to any others who will take their time to read this. God bless!

Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice. In biblical times, pre-New Testament, men had to sacrifice an offering to God for God to forgive their sins. They had to give the best of their animals so that all transgressions could be forgiven. Jesus, who died for our sins, was the ultimate sacrifice, ending all sacrifices.
