My 6 yr. old son told me I was a "hotty" before. I just laughed and asked him where he heard that and he said from his cousin so I just thanked him and told him that I am his mother and he shouldn't be using that exact word to compliment me...I told him to say that I look nice or something. He understood and has never said it again. Your son just heard that from someone else...explain to him that it isn't appropriate and why. Good luck!

A 6 year old's definition of "hot" and "sexy" probably differs from an adults. I wouldn't worry about it, and I would just take it as a compliment. :) Be proud that he thinks his mommy is pretty.

My 3 year old says the same thing to me. I laugh because she has heard my husband say I'm hot. I wouldn't worry too much. Just laugh at the fun and silly things that come out of their mouths.

I'd ask him if he knows what it means. if he explains it, then tell him your glad he thinks your pretty but perhaps he could compliment you by just saying that your pretty because he's a little too young to say those words.
if he doesn't know, explain it to him and then say he's a little too young to use those words.

kids understand more than we think I'm sorry to say.
i believe if a child is old enough to ask a question, or in this case use adult words, then they're old enough for an answer or explanation.
good luck x

Your child does not have a realistic grasp of what those terms mean, only that they are somewhat positive. You can either take it as a compliment, or, if it bothers you, monitor more closely what your child hears, be it from the popular media or another person. This was picked up, like a virus.

my first reaction would be to smile then i would ask what does he mean by that..."hot and sexy". children have their own meanings anyway and not necessarily what adults would have think... and your son may probably heard it from somewhere...maybe on tv, or friends in school. But i would really love to listen to your son's reasoning..... it could be very cute and funny.

Be very happy, mine started at 4. You could have stopped it by not sending your kid to school, not let it watch tv or any commercials and not let your husband kiss you and call you sweet things when the kids are around. But I guess it's already too late for that :-)

laugh it off, he's hearing it from daddy or someone that says he thinks your hot and sexy. It'll stop in time. My nephew used to try to grab my boobs and say I'm sexy...its stopped. Just laugh it off.

Laugh. My son says funny things too. But I also talk to him about why it is funny so he does not say it to the bank teller to get a laugh out of her too.
