I am so sorry.. 6 points. Does he know where he went wrong? All I can say is get a lot of pratice tests and go over it and take the test under real testing conditions. Try to find a local tutor ..a college studnet. If you are in NY I work at a college and can help. I hope he does will next time.

Since he only missed by 6 points, I would suggest that he identify two or three kinds of problems he felt he kind-of recognized but was confused on. He should study those kinds of problems... that way he doesn't feel overwhelmed by having to study tons of different concepts. If he gets really comfortable with those couple of types of problems, then add on one concept at a time (but no rush... he gets as far as he gets) until the next testing date.

Why do not you enroll him in a math prep-school in the summer. Is there a Kaplan where you live if there is one then let him go there this summer. Also coach him to be himself and no studying the day before the test. Let him relax and have plenty of rest and enought sleep the day before the test.

You can't . its a standardized test that tests you on all major aspects of math and english (depends on grade). my school gives us the same tests in the spring. you can't prepare for them, they're made to test your current knowledge. i believe schools have kids take them every year so that they can see the progress students make. there is no grade, it's just to see where the child is in learning.
hope i helped!

not a problem, just lower the passing grade standard. ask any politician. but seriously, find out what the test questions are and drill him on them every night.
