Hello. I have asked the same question many times. I have a grandpa who lived to be 103 years old. And I had a son who was 21 when he died four years ago. I don't know if I can ever figure it out. Might just be part of the mystery of life. One thing I think is that earthly time is very very brief compared to eternity (that is if you believe there is a spiritual world. I am just really glad that when my son was born he didn't come with a tag on his foot that said. EXPIRATION DATE 7/21/2002. It would of been hard to know that his time on earth was so short. Time and years are very important to us earthly humans that is why it is so hard to lose those that we love. It is the ultimite loss of control. It also reminds us that non of us know how many years we have.
There are medical reasons why some die younger. For instance they are young but have a blood clot in their brain. Or get cancer or a freek heartattack or get killed in a car accident. We are all dying, we just don't know how or when.
Maybe we are here on earth to learn a lesson in our spirits and when we reach that point we are free to go back to the spiritual world. Maybe life and death are random - like the roll of the dice.
We might not ever understand why some live so long and others don't live a long life. The important thing is to live life to the best and fullest that we can. We need to make each moment count.

Much of mortality is determined by diet and lifestyle (high fat, smoking, drinking, no exercise, too much exercise, etc.). The final denominator is the amount of oxidative stress which can adversely effect our DNA and chromosomes, thus increasing our risk of cancer, diabetes, artheriosclerosis, and a host of other degenerative diseases. The good news is that much of these threats can be neutralized through the introduction of whole food ANTI-oxidants (not synthetic supplements) into our diets. But PLEASE...don't believe me; do the research and see the data for yourself.
