If you have really curly hair, you let it grow and then have someone style it so that it's basically the same length all over. If the top is 3-4 inches from your head then the sides and back should be 3-4 inches from your head. It seems like it would just automatically style itself, but it takes a lot of time if you want it to look right.

I think you would have to have naturally kinky hair to start with...I do and all I have to do is wash, condition, and just let my hair dry naturally..when that's done I may add some curl gel, or hair oil and that's a done deal. You don't need a brush or comb to get an afro unless you want to shape it out...you don't grow an Afro...try some mousse maybe that will help you.

Don't you mean WHY do you grow...? Anyway, Hispanics are a mixed race and you could have some African in your background, somewhere. I'm also Hispanic and my family looks anything from Spanish to Indian, with all the possible trait combinations from green eyes to very dark skin. That's the way the world is going, anyway...people are getting more mixed all the time.

it will never be perfect unless you have kinky hair which is very very tight curls! you can try by using a pick and brushing it out...
