None. You usually have to have a Bachelor's Degree even to be admitted to Vet school. You can train to be a veterinary technician at many community colleges - you won't be doing surgery there, but you may have to observe or assist to get your license. And you won't make a lot of money as an assistant.

If you really want to go to veterinary school you must get a bachelor's degree (or take classes that are equivalent) in order to be accepted to veterinary school. At veterinary school you obtain your doctorate and will earn the title of doctor. Much like medical school, there is no way for you to make it through a veterinary and become a veterinarian without going through surgery classes.

You could get your bachelor's degree in Animal Sciences, which is offered at many schools across the country.

In your state the following schools offer an Animal Science program:
Becker College - Leicester
Hampshire College
University of Massachusetts, Amherst

How about MoorPark Community College in MoorPark California. They are a teaching zoo, and teach animal behavior sciences. You live on the campus and take care of animals.
The guide Dog foundation hires from there, as do all major zoos and marine parks.
Tuition is less expensive, and the studies are more fun, and jobs are plentiful, as it is America's only teaching zoo. >>

Any Veteinary School will offer courses to specialise, in whatever field you want to adapt to. However just to dispense medicine and diagonise animals, I don't think there is any specialization required. A normal Veteinary degree will get you to that level.

Sorry, if you want to be a vet you will have to get over the surgery thing. You will have to dissect lots of things in undergraduate school and perform surgeries in vet school.

Perhaps a vet isn't right for you.
