There are antagonists for alcohol and narcotics which can be obtained from a physician, but I am unaware of anything that is a cocaine antagonist. IAntagonists destroy the "high" or make a person violently ill after using a certain substance.)

As a retired Substance Abuse Counselor who has worked with countless cocaine addicts, I doubt that this would work. Your husband, if he is addicted to cocaine, is battling a powerful enemy. Cocaine stimulates the same pleasure center in the brain that orgasm does. It is a very difficult addiction to overcome, even if someone WANTS to quit. If the person does not see the need to quit or want to quit, I don't know of anything, short of being locked into a facility for a period of 3 to 9 months that will work. It takes at least 90 days to get over immediate craving for cocaine. After the initial craving for the drug goes away, it takes 12 steps, lots of counseling, lifestyle changes and supervised living to bring about the fundamental thought processes that will help a person maintain a drug free life. Even then, failures far outnumber successes. This is especially true with crack cocaine. In almost 22 years, I have only known two true crack addicts who have managed anything close to long-term recovery.

I urge you to seek professional help for yourself, as well as your husband. If he still has a job, perhaps his employer, his family members, yourself, and other persons who care about him could arrange an intervention and treatment. If you don't know what intervention is, watch A&E tonight. They have a show about real interventions and I think the one tonight deals with alcohol and cocaine.

Call Narcotics Anonymous or Alcoholics Anonymous. They usually have Intergroup offices in most areas which can connect you with services to help you. You need support, education, and a chance to talk to others who understand what you are going through. They can hook you up with NARANON or ALANON. Also, you can find these groups on the web by using the keywords alanon or naranon. Be sure you are getting the worldwide sites. They have more information and even online meetings.

Good luck and God bless!

Hi hopn4healn,
Gosh, sounds like a serious situation you got there. Be careful what you wish for because the coke is pretty deadly all by itself.
There is of course syrup of ipecac to make a person ill and vomit. But if you're thinking of spiking cocaine with some other medication you're really taking a big chance. Don't do it. Get some other kind of help. Even if you have to send the one you love to jail, it's better than letting them kill themselves with that trash.
Good luck and God bless you...
You and your family will be in all of our Yahoo prayers.
By the way...Will you pleez pick my answer as the best. U R sweet if you do! thin-Q vry mch!

Cocaine will make you ill. You're probably asking because you want to kill him for being an addict? You are heartless and evil. Punishing an addict won't solve anything. The whole scared straight tactic is useless against addictions. He needs to go to detox, get couseling, and have a support group to help him fight his addiction and you need mental help. You're essentially asking people to help you harm your husband. If he dies, then anyone giving advice can be considered and accesory to murder. You need help.

There are medications that are believed to reduce the desire for cocaine. However, to the best of my knowledge, there are no antibuse type meds for cocaine. One of the key things in getting anyone to stop a behavior that is not good for them is to insure that they suffer the consequences of their behavior. Have you been helping or enabling him in his use. Have you made it clear to him what you intend to do if he does not stop. There is a lot of help for both people with addictions and their family check your local phone book under addiction or mental health.

i don't think there is anything like 'antibuse' which is for alcohol...cocaine is a tough one. Also depends on how he uses it...you may want to check out Al-Anon in your local area...worked for me

The cocaine will take care of him soon enough if he doesn't stop using it.

I hope you have your own personal savings somewhere that he can't get to. (I am DEADLY serious about this.)

Best wishes.

no that does'nt exist. but if he is having a problem with drugs maybe you should talk to him. if you are not more important to him than the drug then there is a problem.
