Wow! Someone noticed! Talk about your lost tribe...
The tribe of Dan dissapeared from Bible accounts several centuries befor Christ. At about this time, a group appeared to the north, that worshiped a patriarch named O'Dan. Not much is known of their theology, but we do no the order in which they practiced their religous activities; rape, pillage, then burn...the order of operations was more important than the moral aspect.

I would like to add, that the Mormon exodus, was guarded by a group known as 'Danites'. They were more practical in life and death matters too.

About Judas; how would the church deal with money issues, if Judas had survived several more days? Would he have asked for forgiveness, and enlightened the church in his strong subject; money? I think Judas was from the tribe of Judah.

re; maw maw, what does Dan symbolize?

After Jesus first coming, the salvation door is open to all mankind. When Jesus come again, all the 12 Tribes are symbolic. It is now encompassing all human race. Even people like me, who's suppose to be a Gentile under the mosac law.

Pal, it is good to be detailed. But don't be tight down by all the minor issues. Most important matter is, do you have Jesus in your heart. Do you follow his commandment.

One tips of reading bible, try using Old Testament to understand the New, and vise versa. Bible don't contridict. They affirm each other.

Judas represents Dan in the New Testament, with his replacement an allusion back to the replacement of Dan in the Old Testament. Revelation continues that theme.
