When you're talking about opinion, body size and such, remember that your friend is speaking from his opinion.
Over the years there has been a fine fixation brought to women being petite and of a certain height/weight to be beautiful. The point to remember is that beauty relies on so many factors that a woman who is size 14 could be considered a sex icon luring in men's fancies from across the globe.
Basically, it all boils down to preference. If a man wants to consider a girl attractive who is a size 0, five eight and 120 pounds, then he can count her ribs all day long and it won't bother me. However there are plenty of guys out there who will tell you they consider a woman to be attractive having curves and being of a moderate weight (size 8-14) is the only real way to have those kinds of curves.
If a woman has broad shoulders, or a deep chest (which will lend itself to a larger bust size and most men appreciate that as well) or has a long torso, then she'll weigh more or her clothing size will be larger.
Remind your friend that most plus sized stores start their sizing at either 16W or 18W based on region. Even then, those sizes generally fit a woman who weighs 150-170 pounds! Being a woman who weighs just under 180 pounds, a size 14 is comfortable with my waist being about 36 inches. However, in kind to the breast comment earlier, I'm sitting pretty at 38D. There are benefits to the size, as well this doesn't mean a woman has to have a belly or be "fat". I am ex-military, rivalling some of my guy friends for shoulder width and for upper body strength, and rather proud of my slightly larger stature.
A woman with curve can be extremely beautiful. A woman with rolls and spandex shorts, however... that is where "heavy" meets "disgusting."

No this is very slim a perfect size to be. The average height for a women in Britain today is 5ft 2 inches and a size 16. Sizes 4/ 6/8 is a bit to thin epecially for someone tall. On the perfect weight chart someone who is a size six and 5'7' could well be an anorexic or heading that way and will most certainly be underweight for their height and build.

Sizes don't have much to do with height so much as width. A size ten woman is going to be the same size around at any height -- just think about your pair of jeans, which are a set width and a set size. Any size 4 pair of jeans is going to be roughly the same width around. Which means any size 4 woman is going to be roughly the same size around. Anyone who is a size 10 is slender. I'm not sure why you're friends with that guy -- he sounds like an ignorant jerk to me.

A size 10 is heavy? Interesting.
You might want to let your "friend" know that Marilyn Monroe was a ripe size 12. Jean Harlow? 10. Jane Russell? 14.
You can't go by a woman's dress size to evaluate her size in proportion to her weight. That's ridiculous. I am a size 16 and have a better body than many of my "smaller" friends, due to an ample bust and booty. Dress size is all relevant to the body the dress is on. Nothing more.

If size 10 was so bad, why would the stores be full of size 10 clothes for women? Your guy friend has a serious shallowness problem. Is he not getting any?
Women should be the size they are and be comfortable with it, as long as they are healthy.
Marilyn Monroe was a size 14.

Gee, I think you're both wrong. The U.S. national average for that height is size 14.
Now, here's the punchline: a woman's dress size only matters if she makes her living with her body, for example, as an actress, fashion model, porn star, etc. If she does anything else...waitress, data entry clerk, Congressional representative, mad housewife or illustrator...it doesn't matter.
I wish that I would see young people relax on this point and get a sense of proportion about what matters in life...and, it's not your dress size.

Many studies in various cultures have shown that men are attracted to a certain shape...but not necessarily a certain size. it is all about ratio. Smaller waist and larger hip. There is a 'perfect' mathematical equation that equals what is most attractive to a man. it could be a size 2 or a size 16.

not at all. i think anything up to a size 12-14 would be getting big, but at that height, i think 10 for 5'7 is fine.
