hmm, tough question.

Christmas is a day to be with family. Ussually this is a day time celebration, not really a night time celebration. But I guess to each his own. The Christmas holiday is also not celebrated by all, so again to each his own.

New Years is normally a night time celebration that is celebrated by most people.

So, I guess I would have to say New Years.

September the 11th. That is Christ actual birthday. That is why the twin towers tragedy was so evil. Christ was born on tishri one. (Jewish calendar). This is equivalent to September 11th. The year was three BC, the time about 6-7pm at night.
The Christmas celebration people celebrate today is the winter solstice and druid style pagan worship. It is the worship of planets and false Gods. The New year is another of these rituals. They were adopted by the church to incorporate more people into the church.
However, they are still pagan rituals. God's word says we are not to be observers of times and seasons. However, if you do wish to celebrate 'special' times then try, September 11th, Pentecost, or others like them. Much more in keeping with the fact that Christ perfomed a victorious action and the battle was won.

Personally I'd go for Xmas - you have loads of great nights out around Xmas plus lots of presents! New year is just one night out out of the year and tends to be over-priced and over-crowded compared to every other night of the year! Some people seem to save up all their fun for new year rather than have lots of fun throughout the year!
