But surely, doing things for humanity's sake, instead of pretending to do "God's work" is enough to gain entrance into heaven, if there is indeed an afterlife. What if the meaning of life is to live this life. What if there is no meaning of life? Come on, it's not impossible -- we just need to readjust our perceptions - we are so very small in comparison to what is out there, and by out there, I mean the Universe.

I wont be going to heaven. Not like that. You see, the Bible doesn't say 'heaven' not in the original scriptures. It say paradise. The difference is that heaven is any place above the earth, paradise is a place on the earth. We go to paradise at the end, when Christ returns and all the revelation period is over, then there is a new heaven and earth. This new earth is...paradise. So you can go to heaven if u want, I'll go to paradise. As for God finding out, he already knows. How do you think you might deceive him? There are two you can never lie to, God the author of Truth. And the devil, the prince of lies. You can't hide from God, he is everywhere, knows everything, etc. How do you propose to keep the fact that you are trying to hoodwink him from him? Object in futility. WWW.STUPIDIDEA.COM Never happen.
You can only get to the paradise one of two ways:
1) become Born again of God.
2) By the resurection of the just and unjust, by being judged worthy.

1 is the best. All your sins are forgiven and you can manifest the power of God.

The more religions are exclusive of other religions, the more they tend
to be "unreasonable". That is, I would not expect anyone who truly thought
that anyone not Christian would be damned is reasoning with any
knowledge of history or, for that matter logic.

Lets bring out a well-worn problem: If you can't get to heaven unless you
are Christian, that means that everyone who died before Christ was born
is getting pretty toasty right now.

Or is that only true now? When did it become true? Did it become true
when the word of Christ had reached Rome? Which gospel did you have
to have been exposed to before you were covered by this rule.

Please.

If Christ was here for our salvation, what of the innocent born in the
middle of China with no Christian influence around him or her and therefore
growing up non-Christian. Does the Christian merciful lord exclude this
person because of their origin?

This is not to say that God does or doesn't exist, Christ does/didn't exist
or whether or not he was a deity: It only addresses the exclusivity of
salvation.

It is illogical and inconsistant. It is certainly not merciful by any
definition I live by.

I considered that as a youth when I desperately wanted to be Christian so I would not go to hell. At the time that was the only thing that held me to Christianity. So finally one day I sat down with myself and had a long talk. I decided that if God existed and was what most Christians said he was, i was insulting him with my faith so i stopped being a christian and became a student of truth looking for what I needed to believe in. At long last I have come back to a form of Christianity, but I believe it not because of fear, but because it is what i feel in my heart to be true. God loves us and wants our love, not our fear.

Being a Christian is more than just a term.
How you live life determines if you are the real deal or not.
Your line of question shows you to be a right little devil's advocate

Don't you know that God already knows that.

But He first wanted us to be Christian so we can go back to heaven. Because before we were in our mother's womb, he already knew us. So why did He came to earth? God Himself doesn't want that no soul be lost. So He knows already that to go to heaven you have to be a real Christian, not by words, but by actions.

Well God knows our hearts and whether or not we truly belong to Him, the scariest part of the NT is when Jesus says that not everyone who calls on his name and says 'lord, lord,' will get in to heaven because he will say' away from me you evildoers, I never knew you.' To be sure of salvation you HAVE to know that you have a personal relationship with Jesus, it's kind of too important to leave it to chance.
