People choose the "best answer" as whomever agrees with them. I have constantly seen these narrow-minded thinkers support racists and ignorance because it agrees with their views. I'm not saying I have the best answers (since I have been chosen to have none I obviously don't) but have seen answers much better than mine own (even those that disagree w/ my views) and much more intelligent. Why arent people more openminded?

One reason that I believe people choose the best answer is whatever is the accepted societal norm.

One reason that people ask questions to which they already know the answer is to get up their points total..

Peolpe ask questions to reinforce their arguements. Thats why they will choose the best answer that matches their own answer as close as possible. I think Yahoo answers is more for fun than for serious research, don't you?

People want to feel validated, vindicated... they don't want to feel like they are racist, or ignorant, or not intelligent, or whatever, or that they're not alone in these thoughts. And who better to validate your feelings than a whole mess of strangers?

Because when people see so many opinions out there they get scared that they're wrong so they look for validation.
