My cat is 15 pounds and I feed him 1/2 a can in the morning and 1/2 a can at night. This seems to satisfy him.

I have one "Fat" cat and 2 regular weight cats. I inherited them that way. I have tried feeding them once a day, like I did with my dogs, but whenever they think its feeding time or I open the closet door-they go apesh*t. So I have decided that feeding them 1/4 c at 8am and another 1/4c at 930pm is what I'd try next. This has worked wonders. They are happier and don't eat so fast that they vomit after wards. Most people can train their cats to have a continuously full food dish, if you can do that, then kudos to you!

It depends on the age and weight of your cat.
I feed my cat a proper portion of wet food to maintain her weight twice a day (for her it amounts to almust a full can a day) plus some dry food she can nibble on throughout the day. Wet food is much healthier for cats, since it has moisture in it and cats have a low thirst drive. Dry food can become addictive, so I do not think it wise to leave a full bowl sitting out at all times. If the cat manages to become addicted to it, they will get very fat, and could have joint problems when they get older. Ideally you should give a cat only enough dry food that they can eat in a certain period of time, like an hour. Remember, cats are carnivores. Whole grains, rice, barley, wheat, veggies are not good for them. Cats need more protein-filled food like meats and fish, which is found in greater amounts in wet food.

Like dogs, your cat should only be fed as much food as it needs to maintain its optimal body weight and condition. Ribs should not be visible and there should be no excessive fat. Excessive fat is usually most noticeable between the back legs in the abdominal region.
Cats can be fed by either free-choice feeding or scheduled-feeding. They will usually eat every few hours all day long if left to themselves.

It depends on the age of the cat. Some adult cats are fed three times a day. Senior citizen cats are sometimes fed small snacks in the day. Ask for vet or consult a cat book for which is suitable for yours.

Depends on the age of the cat. It it's a kitten, I'd feed it twice. An adult should eat only once.

I feed my cat once, when i get up. But she's also hunting, because i let her outside whenever she wants. I've trained her to just meow at the door if she wants to get out, and meow if she wants to get in. She's a pretty smart cat though, because i live in a building on the 8th floor. I'm proud of her :)

You feed adult cats one or two times a day if you use wet food. Then you leave dry food out all day, and water, so kitty can eat and drink whenever he wants to.
