There are so many reasons it's impossible to list them all here. I am left handed and luckily the days of forcing a child to be right handed were over by the time I went to school.
Christians believe Jesus Christ sits at the right hand of God. Therefore, they believe being at the left hand of God would be a bad thing. They used to believe being left handed was a bad thing.
Some people relate being left handed with being a witch, being influenced by Satan, being a criminal, being insane, and the list could go on and on.
I relate being left handed with being very creative. Although, I must admit I am a little insane.
In some cultures certain tasks are done by the right hand such as eating, while other tasks are done by the left hand such as personal hygiene.

I think people prefer it because:
1. Its a natural fact that people pfefer using the right hand. E.g. eating
2. In a driving situation Its more comfortable.
3. Driving is easier clockwise. Which is easier with the right hand.
4. Getting religious the right is so speacial:
Jesus sits there, true christains will be at God's right, and right tosome people might be holy because the man at the right (think soo) is always the holy one.

Since this is in the religion section, I'm guessing you're talking between the lines. Jesus sits at the right hand of the Father, so I guess the Holy Ghost sits at the left. Don't know why the Holy Spirit is not mentioned more.
Am I totally off track?

Frankly, I like both my hands. The fact that my right hand gets special privelages has so far been a secret to my left hand, and I'd like to keep it that way.

The right hand is usually the hand used most often, only a small percentage of the population is left-hand...I can use both equally, what's that called? i think it's ambidextrous....

Good question because seriously whats the difference? I'm a lefty and i think it's cool because it's unique unlike all of those rightys out there no offense or anything if you are one. It's like leftys are in their own special club :p

Because most people are right dominate, ancient peoples (religions mostly, the old Catholic church, Islam, etc.) often treat southpaws as evil. Kids were often taugh away from their handedness, which can cause problems learning.
