There are so, so many reasons why a cat slows down on eating or stops eating all together. According to the Cornell Online Consultant, A Diagnostic Support System for Veterinary Medicine, there are 454 Possible Diagnoses for Feline Anorexia.

1.) Go to : www.GEOnlineService.com, apply for instant credit. They can give you an answer in just a few minutes. If you qualify be sure to get a vet that does accept, but most do.

2.) No credit ? See if you can get ANY vets to work out some type of payment plan. Many animal shelters have local vets they work with & might be able to steer you in the right direction.

3.) Is your cat throwing up or having diarreah? Drinking any water? Get a syrange & force feed water or it will get dehydrated & die for sure.

4.) How old is the cat? Has it gotten ahold of any string? Kittens & cats can die from eating string. It ties up their intestines & would have to be surgically removed if possible.

There are tons of reasons your cat is sick & not eating. I'm not a vet, just have cats. See how it does overnight & maybe you can come up with something by tomorrow. It will either get better or worse. In any case it's always good to have some cash or back up plan for times like this. And, sometimes no amount of money can save your pet. I recently spent $1,000.00 on vet bills for a 6 month kitten I only had for 4 months & she still passed away.
Good luck & I hope you & your kitty do ok.

While you didn't provide enough detail on her illness, you should take her to the vet. Most will arrange for payment plans, and your local shelter or SPCA should be able to tell you what vets in your area can help.

Also, vets can provide you with information on pet insurance, which is something I have for my cat (VPI). The monthly payments are very low (ranging around $10-20) and various plans cover everything from annual checkups and prescriptions to major surgery. It is worth it for your pet and will save you money when (if) the time comes for major vet bills.

Pet "owners" are not really owners, they are guardians. Whether you adopt or buy a pet, it is a life-long commitment and you should be prepared to care for your pet as you would your own child. Otherwise, you should not make the commitment.

Please take your cat the vet ASAP and worry about the finances later.

Take her to the vet. Cats can get dehydrated very easily. If you can't afford to take her to the vet ask if they accpet pet insurance or have a care credit plan. It's just like a credit card that the vet accpets and you just pay the credit card monthly. Or if not, then sorry to say that I would suggest of giving the cat to a person who can really take care of her. She deserves the best treatment, just as you would want if you were a cat. Best of Luck

Take her to the vet and ask the doc how much for a regular check-up then if u can aford to pay for it get it then maybe the doctor can tell you what exactly is wrong with your cat then maybe you could go to your local pet shop and find a cheap pet medicine that if not cure the sickness maybe treat it.Also if you look in the phonebook and on the internet maybe u can find one of those pet clinics that offer free treatments....

Take the cat to the vet and worry about the cost afterwards.
Or, if you refuse to get the poor thing treated and it is suffering, whack it in the head with a brick, bury the remains and never get another pet.
Duh.

Sometimes animals don't feel well and stop eating and then start again. You didn't say how long your cat hasn't been eating. If it is only a day or two, don't worry. Make sure there is water for it. If there is an ASPCA in your town, they will treat animals for free sometimes or at reduced cost.

That's part of the responsibility of owning a pet.
Call Animal Control or The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, (SPCA) maybe they can assist you.

Did you know people who violate state animal laws may be subject to fines for animal cruelty?
